Newbie meets Bubble-Ponics (needs help)

So I’m just getting started doin tha indoor thang...

I bought a "bubble-ponic" cloner..

It basically consists of a tub that’s 14" x 10" and is 8"deep

It comes with a second tub that acts as a humidity dome,

and a flat lid with fifteen (15) 2" inch holes for the net pots

Now - it only comes with an air pump, and a vinyl hose that connects to a flexible "air stone" = or "air snake thang" that works like an air stone - same function

So here's my question(s)

First and foremost - will the airstone provide all the water necessary for the roots ?

In other words:

If I put a seedling (in rockwool) into this setup - will this create enough water supply to the nets to create/sustain roots?

(I apologize if I am being redundant - I just want to be thorough, and clear...)

My issue is:

Its seems to me that by merely creating "bubbles" in water - that the roots would have to already be in the water (thereby being a DWC of sorts) for this to be effective.... for water to actually GET TO THE ROOTS....

So ....will this work (just using the airstone) or do I need to also add some sort of alternative water supply - IE Top Drip and/or Aeroponic (water sprayed up onto the nets/roots)

Bottom line is -

(and please tell me if I am right and/or wrong here)

- that if I don't have roots yet, I can't see that a water stone aerating the water can create roots - IE get enough water to the plants/nets that are suspended above....

Again - I haven't done this yet - and I realize to some this question may seem a bit dumb - but it just doesn't seem logical to me....

Please help!

Any advice , info , suggestions from all you wizards would be welcomed and appreciated...

Thanks in advance

Jake

I just started my first stealth hydro bubble ... same as you have. Started in late January. I started the seeds in http://www.parkseed.com/gardening/PD/6529/ bio dome. Already had this and it comes with nutes to start seeds eventhough everything I read says no nutes during germination. 99.9% germenation. After about a week or week in a half, the seed root was about 3 inches long. Carefully pulled out the root by dividind the spounge thing that held the seed and put it in the rocks and started with the growth nutes. Complete success. See my pic. My prob now is that after a month and a half of 24/7 of 42w CFL (100 watt equiv), I think I swithched to 12/7 too early. I'm looking for advice on switching back to 24/7 lights for a little longer. Good luck!
