This has proably been asked 100000 times , but what type of lights should I be starting with growing indoors? Is it ok to stick with Hps , CFls, MHs ? Or at what point would a switch occur?

...I hope you know the grow cycle.. You can use flourescents for veg and I would use nothing but an hps for flower 400w minimum

For your first grow, (the cheap way, I would say use a bunch of cfl's mixed 2700k and 6500k, so you can both veg and flower with the same fixture)
The more expensive, but much more productive way, is diving right into HID's. I would suggest a 400w, 600w, or 1000w. Anything smaller is not worth the money in my opinion. Depending on the room size, one of those should get the job done well. Just use the MH for veg, and the HPS for flower.

So in other words my little150w will be of no benifit for veg or flowering for this one plant ?

Yes you can use your 150 for veg and flowering. Just keep your bulb a safe distance from the top of the canopy. The more wattage for flowering the larger the yield is all Thesnake is saying. Not that your 150w is useless, just that more wattage is ideal for larger yields. You should shoot for .5 gram per watt as a general rule of thumb

You may be right, for an experienced grower I would say! As a first time grower I think .5 gram per watt should be good. I shouldn't of said as a rule of thumb I suppose because that is just my opinion! Thanks for catching that btw!

sorry to tell you even a lot of skilled growers don't get .5 gpw lol. if your lucky to get an ounce a plant your first grow you did very good.

Your grow looks good, hope you get a nice yield in the end and I think that I would agree now on the 0.5 gram mark per watt

Okay I may just pick up another two , I woukd rather use one type if lighting this first grow , starting with berry auto ryder or midnight kush not sure yet any suggestions? Expected yeild ?

If you already have the 150w hps, I'd suggest use that. Don't worry about yield either, learn to use what you got. It'll make it so much easier for you when you decide to upgrade. And I'm sure once you get the hang of it you'll put good yields with your 150. I use CFL and pull decent yields, you'll do fine with your light.
