Newbie here

As you can see, this is my very first post. I'm about to start indoor growing in my apartment's closet. It's about 6 by 8 all white walls. I'm just growing for me, a few friends, and might open just to get back what I spent on the process. So let me know what you think. Basically in this thread, I'm asking if I got the basic shit down. I was thinking to get a 400w MH bulb for about 30 bucks at home depot. My question on this is, once I get the bulb, do I need some special thing to hold it in? Or can i just let it hang?

Also I wanted to get a few other things:
-Fox farm soil: ocean forest
-3x 3-5 gallon pots
-16 oz plastic clear cups
-Schultz-take root-rooting hormone
-a rotating silent fan
-those cheap little aluminum baking thingies:
so when the water drains at the bottom, my carpet doesn't get soaked
-some type of plug in lighting timer majig, depending on how expensive they are

Many grower's say that a matt white finish on the walls will do ok but i have found this not to be the case with the humidity been high sometimes the walls can become a little mould ridden so i would black and white polly the walls the size of the grow area is ok should provide you and your friend with some good medication.I would rather go wity a 400 hps this will pull more from each plant when it comes to flowering also a 400 will use has much electric has a 600 a little less but a 400 should do the job fine have it has close has possible to the plant tops.Make sure that you get a decent exaust fan that will pull the heat from the room that you are growing in.Also you will need a inlet a exaust fan reversed will do the trick but you want the inlet about harf the exaust and a good ossalateing fan.Once all these things have been bought if you maintain them after each grow clean and oil them they should last years.You will need a hood for the bulb or you will find that harf the light is just wasted and lost in the top of the room lighting kits are cheap now a days go to the www.tentshop.com these do full kits i think they ship any where.Fox farm soil i can't realy say much about has i only use bio bizz but make sure that you take into account that these kind of soils have some nutes in so if you are putting fresh plants ie seedling or clones that have just got legs will not need any nutreints for at least 2/3 week but i always start adding small ammounts after 2 week.Start with a good nutrient and then you will never look back one like advanced sensi pro can be used in soil or hydr sytem but the results are outsatnding also canna and if you want to go down the organic root bio bizz do there own nutes but organic grown plants do not yeild the same has a plant grown in a feed like advanced and i'm not convinced that the taste is that much differant any how.The pot's seem ok depending on what size you are gonna flower at but all in all you have done what alot of new growers do not do and that is find out what will work and what won't so all in all you will not be wasteing money in the long run.I would always advice any new grower to go with greenhouse seeds these seeds have always gemanated with outstanding results,Make sure that you keep the aliminium trays away from the roots has this can cause problems but they should be fine.There are many rooting compounds on the market now but i have tried them all powders and liquids and the winner by miles has always been clonex and the rooting compound rockwool cubes when takeing clones make sure that you put them into a damp medium not wet through mist them 2 times a day for the 1st week and 1 after make sure that your cloneing medium will not dry out and you and your friend should have plenty of grade a herb.Get in touch through my page and i will advice if i can another grower is a kick in the teeth of the goverments so good on you keep green peace.If it was me i would also go for a differant choice of seed go with greenhouse's the cheese or jackherer or my no 1 choice would be trainwreck love this plant if you realy want to grow the white lady then go with greenhouse hands down the best seed breeders not saying they have the best strains but defo the best seed breeders.......................tyke...........................................................

You are going to need something for odor control, especially if you are going to grow White Widow. It is the stinkiest strain I have grown.

thermometer and humidity meter in one with min and max. Just got one, about $8 bucks at wally world and it also has a clip on it.

Id disagree and go with the 600. It is the most efficient hid light per watt and your 3 plants with plenty of room to grow(6 x will love it too. 400 will work 600 will make it bang and could increase your yield 50%

I have been using the same ones for years, it only needs a new battery once a year. Good, cheap piece of equipment.

I wouldn't use clear plastic cups. I dont know if this is myth or fact, but some people say when you use clear cups, light gets to the roots of the plant and thats bad for them. Idk just better to be safe than sorry.

ummm.... just to clear this up... you're getting an HD bulb? Sorry, what is it, haven't heard of it. If you're thinking about HPS bulb, then you'll need alot more than just a socket for it. Ballast would be your #1 item you would need...

Ooops mah mad, I meant to put MH 400w. It was like 6 AM when I posted this and I was kinda out of it.

Anyone know where to get a 400w MH ballast at? For a decent price? I was thinking home depot.
