newb question: Seeds and seed banks

The first order arrived with 10 seeds plus 5 free. None of the 10 germinated so I'm in the market for more seeds. I'm looking at feminized AK47, maybe feminized Querkle. My grow are is an understair room with a sloped ceiling, 3 feet wide, 8 feet deep, with a sloped roof from 3 feet to 6.5 feet.

I need short plants. I have a 4X4 mylar tent that I can use when it warms up a bit but for now the closet is the main grow area.

For my next seed order I want short, good smoke, feminized, and not too difficult to grow (as I'm new):weed:. I would like seeds that germinate and that the bank will back.

Any recommendations on a trusted bank that is reliable? Inexpensive is good but quality and reliability are much more important.

Thanks

for good reliability ...and a no thrills price , if you are in UK i would say Nirvana would suit your needs , they dont mess around and strains like "ice" and there SS are awesome and stay tight and pushy when topped ...good luck! there are so many seedbanks Bigg buddha and green house seeds have also been reliable =)

Nirvana covers all of your needs! I have had 100% germination on them, good bud production, and they do stand behind their seeds. I would recommend their bubbleicious fem beans. Very easy to grow and they stay short! They don't stretch much when put into flower and they get frosty quickly in flower! I am on my third flower of this strain and the people that try it can't get enough from me! I keep getting people asking me almost daily if my flowering bubba is done yet! ;)

I would also like to know how you tried to germinate your beans, because 0 out of 10 it may have been your fault they didn't germ?

Your goin to want a mostly indica or pure indica if you want a genetically short plant, check out Attitude mate you wont find Querkle Fem though as Subcool only does reg's. If you want quality genetics they are generally more expensive but some gems can be found for a good price. Read the descriptions given by the breeder find something to your tastes/needs that you want to try, all the skunk & northern lights strains are easy enough to grow but get boring fast IMO. Nirvana Seeds are a good start for a beginner try there. Cheap price & a decent strain selection too.

That's possible, though I germinated some old bag seed from a couple of years ago at the same time. 4/5 of the old seeds popped.

I soaked down a couple of paper towels, placed the beans inside, then placed in a zip-loc, threw into a tin box and put in the warm room 78-80 fahrenheit. Two days later, the crappo seeds were open. I left the purchased seeds in for 7 days. I placed the dead seeds in a loose seeding soil mix to change it up. Still nothing.

The crappo seeds sprouted, broke surface, and are about 3 inches tall now.

I wanted to do a comparison of purchased seeds and some junk I had laying around. Unfortunately, the hermie seeds are all that came up.

The 400W MH/HPS should be here tomorrow. Now, I won't need the darn thing until I get some more beans.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.

I placed an order with Nirvana. Went with AK fem, Aurora fem, and mixed indoor fem.

I think you will be happy. Just keep an eye out for hermies at the end of flower with fem seeds. Doesn't matter where you get your seeds, fem seeds do have a higher rate of hermie. I just got my AK-48 beans from Nirvana. Really excited to grow them out. GL brotha and it sounds like your germ way is good to go! Maybe just a bad batch of beans! I would garantee your Nirvana beans will NOT do that! I have never had a problem germing Nirvana beans.

I soak them in Distilled water for about 7 hrs. Then paper towl them wet not soaked in a ziplock bag over heatmat in an upside down coffee cup. They pop tap roots in less than 24 hrs every time! Some as soon as 12-14 hrs! Never fail!

Thanks Howard. The first seeds were from http://www.marijuana-seeds.nl/. I ordered the Top 44 as a first grow without doing any research. There are some beautiful looking flavors out there.

It's difficult to narrow down seeds, growing method, nutes,etc... So much grass, so little time!

The sprouts that are up now are bunko bag seeds from a hermie. I'm gonna experiment with them (burning with nutes, weird light cycles, etc...) to see if I can recover the plants. That will keep me busy until the beans arrive.

Howard, I didn't use distilled water. Do you think that could have been the problem? It didn't effect the bag seeds

The company may offer replacements, could be worth asking? I ran a quick search here on them and most people had good results, so they may take care of you.

I hope so. I sent them two e-mails. The first reply requested proof of legal growing. Sent that info in. Their second reply was less than optimal.

We'll give them a few days and hopefully they will recant and send some viable seeds. If not, I'll voice my displeasure a bit more vocally. Time will tell. ;)

Well at least it was just one packet of seeds on the bright side.

You've probably figured it out by now but Attitude seems to be the top seed company, and plenty of happy customer reports from both the breeder/sellers Nirvana and Dr. Greenthumb as well. I've spent the last week sifting through tons of posts here to figure out where I'm getting seeds.

I ordered straight from Nirvana. If time travel were possible, I would have used Attitude. Same seeds plus freebies and cheaper shipping
