hey everyone wanted to introduce myself my name is jay, i am new to this forum and this is my very first post, i like reading about grow rooms and stuff that goes on with people in this forum so i joined. i began this project 3 weeks ago. i went out priced grow rooms, complete systems in other words to get going. the prices i found for grow rooms within the dimensions i wanted were a bit too extreme in price. i took it upon myself to create a weather resistant grow room. a room that holds temperature the same at all times, in my buddies garage. i will be posting a full story of my project i just wish i took more pictures, i'm 18 and this is my first project, my first time growing, my first time even thinking about this, its just all around my first time doin anything with plants...... i hope u all enjoy this thread as much as i enjoyed building this room. i will be posting tonight my first steps into this room. thanks everyone.

i'm trying to put it together so i can present it. some what make it enjoyable and i ask for complete honesty from everyone who reads or follows this future thread, i need to make sure its all up to par with alot of experienced growers.

can't wait to see what you created man, if you need any info, just ask on here, i'll be watching!
Good Luck on your first!

so it begins, me an my buddy sat down an were thinking about a reasonable size room to begin a grow room. we agreed on a room that is exactly 6' length by 6' width by 8' high considering the garage had no insulation i then considered insulating the bottom of the grow room because i was going to elevate it 3 inches off the ground i decided to build a frame for the floor first and i spaced out the 2by4's exactly 14''s apart so i can easily fit insulation in between the 2by4's. i then had to add pieces of 2by4 every so inches across so we wont have weak spots when walking on the wood, the wood is only 1/2 inches thick. in the pic u can see that the wall in the back has no insulation so when its cold the room gets cold when its hot the room gets stinkin hot. also to make the room exactly 6' i had to cut the 2by4's a little longer, if i were to lay the walls on top of this floor i would lose 3.5''s from each side so that means i would have to make my width and length 7''s longer. so instead of cutting the 2by4's exactly 6 feet i cut them 6' 7inches. ull get what im saying later on :P also in the picture u can see i then nailed oneside of the frame with 2 sheets of plywood to cover the bottom side up.

next step.. his garage, the frame work was built on a slab of concrete that ran around the edges of the whole garage so i lifted the floor of the grow room onto that slab and then drilled it into the frame work of the garage i then added small legs to the floor to level out the floor nice and evenly all around i made sure to put some under as well incase it wants to warp in the middle if anyone was to step onto it. u can see in the far right corner of the floor how it sits ontop of the concrete slab i talked about.

i skipped a few walls before snapping a pic of this, so then i built the walls "my friend didnt help, he just handed me drinks and nails" "useless" anyways i built the walls i put them ontop of the frame to see how they fit they fit perfectly so once ontop u can see what i meant about losing 3.5 inches on each side because those walls have to be dry-walled also u can see i left a huge gap in the 2by4 wall infront thats where the door is going. and keep inmind each 2by4 is spaced 14''s exactly so insulation can fit in nicely.

continuing on with the grow room build, what i did next was remove the wall frames i put up from post #9. when i removed them i then was back to the floor only. i then stuffed the floor with insulation and nailed 2 more pieces of plywood ontop so the insulation inside will be sealed in. and now i have a insulated floor piece for the grow room, i then put the side walls back up and this time screwed them to the floor as well as to the garage frame to it can be sturdy.
