New to the forum, pretty new to growing.

Greetings from southeast Asia! (Where the goods are ridiculously difficult to come by...)

We, the wife and I, haven't smoked in months since our last reliable source was either thrown in prison and/or deported. Luckily enough I had the presence of mind to hold onto the only two (yes two :-?) seeds that we found. We have been holding onto the seeds for months, since maybe last October.

After recieving a 'combo' HID (from a buddy of mine who gave up growing) I attempted to germinate them on some paper towels, one sprouted so far and the other has not, it's been about a week now, and is still on the paper towel.

The one that did sprout, had a long tap root (I guess I noticed it kindof late) so I planted it sideways, couldn't decide which way was best so I let her decide, in a tall jiffy pot on the day of the eclipse, heh. She probably stretched a bit, it looks kindof tall for only having cotelyedons (sp?), that have yet to even open up.

Our closet setup is pretty modest, and supplies are also ridiculously hard to come by. Luckily from attempting to have a vegetable garden, we have a nice little compost pile. So we have the light, a cheap thermometer/hygrometer, some emergency blankets on the walls, rooting hormone (heh), cheap jiffy organic soiless mix... seriously thats about it.

Admittedly I jumped the gun on germinating, and I really hope not to have ruined our chances at having some decent smoke. Wifey keeps telling me that she had advised against my germinating the seeds though I don't remember that, of course. <g> Money is just a little tight right now...

The only real problem I have right now, aside from this lengthy intro, if anyone could offer some advice is the seed that refuses to germ.

I have read about seeds sometimes needing a dormant cycle (er, time in the freezer?) so my question would be is if after 10-14 days and no signs of the root breaking through should I let it dry out and put it in the freezer for a bit and try again?

Welcome to RIU :hump:

You can lightly pinch the sides of the seed until you feel it crack slightly and put back into the moist paper towel for 24-48 hours. That will help the tap root to come out. If that dont work, plant it and hope someday it pops out.

whats up bro..welcome to riu..
hopefully you will get some good seedlins started and some good bongsmiliebongsmilie out of them.....:peace:
