New to Nutrients - Need Help with Feeding

Hello RIU members,

I have never used any type of nutes before, suprising since I'm on my 5th or 6th grow but, since I'm building a nice 600w cab, I figured I better finally get some.

I ended up going with AN Big Bud & Bud Candy for my first type of nutes to use. I will only be feeding during flower at this time until I get more nutes for the veg cycle.

I have read a lot about the instruction on the back people wrong and not blah blah blah.

I just need some easy, plan, simple advice on how to feed. And if it varies from plant size to pot size to waterings to lights, and everything else.

Thanks a lot,
AllDay

For nutrients, less is more.

For watering: only water your plants when they need it. If the soil is wet, don't water. There's no set number of days between waterings, as it depends on a range of things from temps, humidity, plant size, container size, soil type, etc.

Alright so pretty much just trial and error it? It's normally in teaspoons right?

Also, an offtopic question, it seems like it one of my pots the water drains out really fast and the soil gets dry quick, think I should try out a new potting mix? Doesn't clay slow down water movement in soil?

Every nutrient firm publishes dosing schedules. Those are an excellent place to start. AN's will also tell you if you need something else, like a veg/micros feed.

Your fast-draining pot may have developed channels (cracks). What sort of soil ...? cn

Alright, great. Can't wait to see the results from these nutes.

For the medium, it's just your typical gardening/potting soil. It is pretty fine though, like between peatmoss and normal dirt, might be topsoil? Don't know exactly off the top of my head

I half the doses on my nutes, i never go full strength, just trial and error like you say, if you see burn then just back off little by little...

What do you suggest I do, get new medium? Any recommendations? I would like to stay on the cheap side, the dirt I bought was WAY cheap.

No recommendations; I don't have enough experience. In all other regards the Happy Frog was excellent soil. I'll just use a new bag each time. cn

Start at a quarter strength, and start only when your plant shows it needs some. Nutrients can be your worst enemy. All it takes is a little too much... Cooked.

I am never going to use them again. All organic from here on out for me. Good luck with your grow.

To add, it all depends on the strain. I've had some haze where it didn't like any... And I have had some heavy indica's that drink NPK like a slurpy.
