New to LEDs - quick question

Apologies as I'm sure this is pretty basic and has been addressed before, but wanted to check with the experts before I buy more light than I need.

Would a dimmable 500w fixture be too much for a 2x4? Or could it be operated at lower power for better efficiency?

The 500w version of this light should be compatible with an AC Infinity Controller 69; however, if 500w is too much I'll opt for the 330w version and a different timer.

Appreciate any input; thanks!

Link to light?

Wattage is more then enough, it's more about spread and fitment

ChilLED X3 500w:

Since the space is 2x4 (rectangle) you may be best served by looking at a pair of something that's in the 150 or 200w range so that you get even light spread across the space. I have a tent that's 3x5 and use a few 225w lights hung across the width.

The lights he mentioned will cover a 3x5 area. So no worries on a even light spread

So the answer is no it won’t connect to his light then :)

They've recently added a couple adapters for:

UIS Lighting Adapter Type-A, for RJ11/12 Connector Lights with PWM or 0-10V Dimmers
UIS Lighting Adapter Type-B, for RJ11/12 Connector Lights with Resistor Dimmers

So I guess, yes it could work for some lights.

I can't see the physical dimensions on their website.
Just make sure it fits in your tent.

Don't they do a smaller version?
Seems a waste of money to buy a light for 15 square foot when you only want to light 8.

yes - ACI states that the Controller 69 will work with ChilLED Growcraft lights with certain drivers (500w). The 500w driver can utilize those adapters - the 330w cannot.
ChilLED also was of the opinion that it should work.
Willing to take a risk and spend the premium on the 500w version (only difference is the driver), just want to ensure I don't burn my plants.

double-checked and had ChilLED verify the dimensions; they make two 2x4 lights - one with three long bars, one with six short bars; the three-bar (which these are) version is 42.5 in x 19.5 in x 1.375 in, so will fit in my 2x4 without touching any sides.

they do make a 300w version, but due to the driver it cannot be connected to the ACI controller.
this is my first grow, but would like to step-up to a perpetual set-up at some point - and hoping this light would function well in a 4x4 (their site says max coverage is 4x6)
