I am new to growing and want to set up an automated system, i was just going to have an aquarium pump on a timer to water the plants but I know though hydroponics are more expensive and difficult to set up, they yield more, about how much more (percent wise) do you think would yield through hydro? I am also growing in a confined space...

Setting up an automated system is not difficult, you must maintain that system and monitor the ph carefully that is the more difficult part. I wouldn't use an aquarium pump either it doesn't seem like a good idea. Percentage wise it is hard to say it all depends on how good your grow is, some have more luck than others and for your first time you should only grow a few plants i feel just in case you fuck up a few times. It is a big learning experience your first time growing in hydro let alone soil. The only real similarities is well the plants. If you don't have a hydro show near you, you will also have to order nutes from the internet or a catalog. Go to you tube and look up i grow chronic there is a pretty good tutorial on how to setup a grow op you dont have to have a grow op just pay attention to what he is doin for a setup that is the best way to learn is watch someone do it. Also remember you don't need to do everything he does I don't and my babies do fine. there are so many right ways of doing it.
