well I'm pretty new to the forums but I've been looking around.

so my setup as of now is:

in my closet, i just germinated a seed and it worked and i put it in a 5 gallon pot (yeah its a bit big for starting but its all i got) about 3/4- 1inch deep into my half peet moss half backyard soil. I mixed it pretty good and watered it down and stuff. I've been told I'm not going to need a good bulb until the plant get above around 6inches. as of now i have a desk lamp on it. (yes i understand its a very shit setup but its only as of now) the things i plan on doing is changing my mix with some miracle grow, get a high pressure sodium bulb (400watt) and build a giant tube around the plant filling the walls with aluminum foil and the have the light on the top. I also plan to getting way more seeds.

:leaf::leaf:HELP ME OUT! thank you:leaf::leaf:

Welcome to RIU doobiesnax. First of all, that is WAY too deep; you don't need to plant your seed any more than 1/4". Make sure to put the pointy side down (the tap root). I would also venture a guess that most of the plants grown in Miracle Gro have burned up before finishing; it's just not good stuff for our plants. There are a lot of really good (and cheap on fleabay or hydro house) nutes available specifically for our plants. Just do a little checking before you buy. I'm not sure what sort of desk light you have but you'd probably be better off replacing it with a small (26w) CFL. I'm not sure a desk light would get your plant to 6" before next year, LOL. Not sure how experienced you are at growing pot but I'm assuming that this is your first rodeo. So with that in mind, just keep two things in mind: (1) don't over nute (2) don't over water. Most plants are killed with these two simple mistakes.

Dont use foil!!!!! It reflects heat not light. You are better off painting with flat white. And Ive heard alot of bad things about miricle grow. I dont know for sure becuase i grow in hydro. The regular light bulb you are using is only giving your plant heat, not the right light for growth. Go get some cheep florecent bulbs of some cfl( curly cue) bulbs. Check out the FAQ it will answer alot of the problems you are going to face. Best of luck and happy growing!
