New to growing need some help

So I want to grow in my room...I stay with my mom she doesn't give a crap. My room is in the the basement I have a neat little set up and really no one comes in here so smell is really no issue at all.

I have a few questions to get started:

Seeds? Where can I get them in the US i looked online and everyone doesn't want to ship them here. Doesn't have to top notch something affordable.

Lighting? What kind of lighting can I use that won't make the bill sky rocket? And should I get a growing box? It's going under my desk it's about 2 feet of clearance.

And the number 1 most important how the hell do I grow...lol. This will be my first time growing anything since like 1st grade when we had those little plants for science lol.

Ok so basically I need some step by step instructions. I'm so ready to start I can taste it already.

Someone help a brother out here :confused:

Welcome to the forums. Im glad to see another person is interested in growing. Good luck bro.
First thing is.... do some reading. Especially the FAQ. Then hit up newbie central and read the stickies. After that you will be a pro... guarenteed!!
If you want my advice though, here you have it....
1) Ph is the most important factor to consider. Proper ph is crucial to plant success.
2) Good genetics are very important. You can order seeds from almost anywhere on the internet. Ive ordered from 7 or 8 different seedbanks and never had a problem. Look around the forums, there are plenty of recommendations.
3) Tell no one.... except for the thousands of people here on RIU of course.
