New To Growing,I am Doing This Right?

Hello. I germinated a seed in wet paper towels. I now have a seedling. It is about 1 week old and seems to be growing to slow. I had it under a 60watt incandescent light bulb(regular light). I am using a desk lamp for now, well until the weekend when I'll have money for more equipment. The lamp says 60watt max so today I went and bought a compact fluorescent light that is 36watts. The package says it puts out 180watts of light. I am using Schultz Potting soil. It says it has Schultz extended plant food in it. My question is is this good enough soil? How often should i water it?

I read that if the seedling stretches the light should be close and also that you should add more soil up to the bottom leaves. So i did as you can see in the pics. What am I doing right and wrong? I have the light at 12/12. Should i increase wattage or time? Why are my leaves so small?

Please help with any, I mean ANY advice you may have.

For one, you should have the lights set at 16-18 on, 6-8 hours off for the Vegetative (first growth stage, budding is the flowering stage) stage.

I would plant more seeds. I plant 40 seeds to get 18 nice plants and feamales. In a cup like that ya may have to water it 1 time in 2 weeks. When ya transplant get different soil. (fox farm) if ya can Put your light about 1 inch away.

They dnt grow much at first. In 30 days it will be huge. Hope this helps

That light will work for a few weeks and then ya need a higher wattage light.
keep the lights on for 24hrs or 18/6
