I'm tearing down my old 8x12 "room" in my basement, it was built quick and dirty, 2x3s on 48" centers, around 2 lights, I'm now running 6. I need more room. I'm already running all the equipment I'll be running in my current room, so I think it'll work.
I have a 20x15 area to use. My original plan was to divide it into dedicated flower, veg/work, drying and storage areas. I just picked up a 4.5 x 4.5 x 6.5 tent to keep things isolated during construction so I didn't have to stop growing and I kinda like it.
Now I'm thinking of just doing an open 20x15 room with 3-4 tents. Tents will be setup with 3-4, 5 gal rdwc with the res mounted outside, so just plants and a light in the tent. 3 tents will be cycled through veg/flower on a perpetual cycle, 1 tent for drying. Clones/seeds can be run on a shelf in the main room.
I have hard plumbed cold tap water and plumbed RO on a remote. I'll be running hot water in the new room. I think I want a shower stall for washing tubs/etc so I don't have to do it in the upstairs tub anymore, but I'm going to rdwc buckets and small totes, so IDK if I need it, maybe just a larger sink.
The floor will be vinyl over concrete, going 6" up the walls to form a tub to contain floods. I did this in my current room and it saved my ass when I had a flood. 25 gallons and not a drop outside the room. An 8x12x6" deep floor could hold something like 300 gals., that's insurance.
For electrical I have 2 dedicated 110 circuits and a 220 for the lights. Power will get reconfigured as needed. I'll mount all my balasts and light controller together, right now they are wherever I had room to mount them.
The main room will be vented with a 6" inline fan/carbon filter on a main duct run, with incoming air being filtered through pleated filters. I'll run the carbon filter on the exhaust side, I know it's not ideal, but total smell control isn't an issue, just want to cut it down. Each tent will be hooked up to this duct circuit to provide air circulation in the tents and to draw out heat. Lights will be cooled independently of the room with another 6" inline fan. So Filtered air>main room>tent>main vent duct>fan/filter.
If I need more I'll manifold another 6" inline onto that circuit. I want to stick with 6"ers so I can have 1 spare for everything.
So, opinions? Anyone run a room like this? I've done some quick cost analysis and tents will cost me about $300 more than stick built but I'll be back up and running quicker.
