New room, coming out of the closet :)

Hey all, just starting this thread to eventually post my progress as I get started on a new grow room build. Hopefully share some ideas, don't be shy to ask or critique.

Have been growing in a closet (thereby the reference, not really coming out of the closet - lol) and the results have been amazing. Started on a $700 budget to get the first grow, fine-tuned it for the second grow, results are amazing and should reward me with more than enough to build out the room where I have my current cabinet.

Doing all work myself, was never big on DIY or handy but the incentive of having my own indoor supply got me googling and the like where I can now handle construction, electrical and whatever I need to make this an rewarding/efficient experience.

Learned a few things to-date about my space, indoor growing issues, lighting, watering, humidity, heat, all the fun things that can keep you scratching your head and frustrated sometimes (this is where a bowl or 10 of MJ comes in handy). Eventually though, persistence pays off and you are rewarded with the most amazing plant on earth :)

Using these learnings to build out my new ultimate grow room. Based on what it costs right now to run my cabinet, allowing for the larger room, but also allowing for virtually no cost heating/air conditioning, I expect to operate this new room, growing 8 (large) plants per cycle for about $50-$60/month average. Sweet :)

I've been slowly purchasing everything I need. Down to about $500 in building materials which I'll be ordering late November. Once my current grow finishes (mid-December'sh) I'll have all the electrical in, finish the balance throughout mid-December to end of December and start my first grow in the larger room in early January. Cant wait!

Some background:
  • The (2'x4'x5') cabinet I have is currently in a 4' W x 12' L x 7' H cold room in my basement (key word, cold room)
  • The cabinet was built with 2x6" sub-floor to keep things off the cold cement floor and 100% sealed, don't mind the smell but not through my house
  • Although relatively new to indoor, I've been toking and growing (outdoors) for 40 years (I thought it was 35 but had a recent BDay and realized it was 40!!)
  • The location I'm in can fluctuate between 90-95F in summer, and as cold as 0 to -10F in winter
  • The cold room hits a max. temp of 74F during summer, and 50F during winter. Will use this as an advantage in design of the new room
  • The cold room, as I've found out through investigation and drilling, has 9" thick concrete walls on all sides, only exception and connection into the basement is the doorway and header above the door (which I will use to my advantage), this entrance area will be cut-off in the new design to eliminate any possibility of smell entering the house. The header above the door will also give me an access hole to my furnace, directly above the door is a main plenum for my furnace/central air conditioner in the house. This will be utilized to bring in cold air in the summer, heat in the winter, essentially at no cost :)

Hoping this is legible, if you print it it's fine, lot of info on a one page drawing…
