New opportunity!!!

Ok so an old friend of mine is planning a new grow & he's completely new to growing. Even though I'm not very experienced to growing, I offered him a few pieces of advice on soil/hydro, lights, & the different stages of growth...really basic stuff. He described his room to me, and it wasn't hard to visualize since I had seen it before. The space is very awkward for such a project, but after a little thought, I figured he can do just fine with the space he has. He's running into some problems, though.

The main thing he's worried about is temperature. Since the room is basically just a more accessible addition to the attic, it can be absurdly hot in there during the summer months & the beginning of fall. Also, proper odor control is a must, as this will be taking place in a suburban area. And lastly, he's concerned that the electricity of the house won't be able to support the proposed system implementation. I argued that last point with him, stating that he would be perfectly safe using HID lights, however to watch his overall electrical load & to cut down on unnecessary energy usage.

Here's how I think I MAY be able to solve his problems, and I need some input.

For ventilation/temperature & odor control: Use 36"x36"x60" grow tent, possibly 2, for flowering room, each with AT LEAST a 600W HPS rig. The specific grow tents I was researching have places to attach 4" ventilation tubing/hose. I figured that adding a carbon filter at each exhaust point inside the tent, simply venting out into the room. I'm not sure if this will work though, because if the room itself is hot, wouldn't that make the tents even hotter? Or would simply venting into the attic be more adequate? If so, he can remove the light fixture that's already there, but run the bulb & wires THROUGH the vent hose & have it come out at a point where it can still be useful. As far as electrical usage, I don't think he has anything to fear because he lives in a 4 bedroom house where everything is constantly running & his bill isn't too expensive.

Anyway, sorry for the shitty paint designs, but this is just to give you an idea as to what he's working with:

I recommended putting 2 36"x36"x60" grow tents side by side, against the right wall by the door, and a 24"x24"x36" tent adjacent to those, to use for veg/clones. So after all that I have 3 questions...

1. Do you think my solution will ensure that temps stay within the necessary range?
2. How much, in oz., do you think that space would grow with a ScrOG implementation?
3. Would an ebb & flow, or low maintenance aero/NFT setup work best?

Vent the exhaust to the attic outside the room. you need an air intake for both tents coming from inside the house to provide oxygen and cool air. New growers should stick to soil when starting out. No way to know the yeild because grower experience, strain, environmental conditions all affect harvest.

Like Prosperian said if you have any doubt that you cant keep the temp in check don't go hydro as soil is more forgiving. The combination of attic grow and first grow with hydro in tent is a game ender. Most people growing in tents already find it hard to keep temps in check with 72 degree ambient temps outside the tent. That being said if you live way up north and you have huge fans for incoming and outgoing ventilation or a lot of ac it can be done but its not easy or reliable and defiantly not cheap.
