New Noob Outdoor - Which Strain?

I know its pretty late in the season. This is more or less an experiment as Ive never had the opportunity before.

I will probably order from Attitude as it has gotten alot of positive feedback here.

What would people recommend as a hearty outdoor FEMINIZED strain? Im in Southern Cali. I only plan to grow 2-3 plants so thats why I want to try FEM seeds.

Since its already the start of June Im more worried about actually getting a crop at all vs actual size, THC level etc. So Id say a quick grow/flower time is important. If I get any kind of buds in the fall Id be happy. Fortunately we get some pretty long (and hot!) summers here.

To sum up, looking for:

  • Outdoor
  • Feminized
  • Hardy
  • Quick to mature/flower
  • Total yield/strength NOT as important as above items.

Thanks for any feedback.

Tomato this one would be perfect - quick finish, very potent ... kind of expensive but keep a cutting for a mother and you've got the strain for life. I've grown two of Greenthumb's strains and they were top knotch. Very good breeder.

GUERILLA GOLD i dont know if there fem. though should be. they are the most potent best yielding aytoflowering strain designed for outdoor growth

im not sure about cali in the fall but if it is like were im at and it is a wet cool falll, you do not want a tight bud, mold really becomes a problem, magic bud does well, island sweet skunk, those i know.

I have never grown it because it won't finish in upstate NY but aparently Columbian Skies yields up to 4 pounds per plant.

Thank you all for the info.

Hobbes - that strain looks awesome and Im sure Greenthumb is great... Unfortunately $150+ is a bit on the steep side for a trial and error attempt.

About 10 years ago I probably would have tried bag seeds but I havent smoked in quite some time.

Even tho my thumb might not be totally "green" I love to grow things. It was a fantasy of mine since childhood to grow cannabis but was previously never an option with living with the parents and then later renting etc. etc.

I think I will go with a minimal order of greenhouse seeds from the 'tude, and try one or 2 of those along with the freebies and see what happens.

Thanks again.

Oh also to Hobbes -

So far Ive really enjoyed your thread about hermies (https://www.rollitup.org/seed-strain-reviews/182247-feminized-seeds-hermie-test-14-a.html), looking forward to seeing results with your greenhouse seeds.

Lots to lurk around here, good stuff.

Tomato what about an autoflowering strain?

I mentioned I.S.S. because it's so late in the season, but you're down south so you could probably put any 8 - 10 week strain out. ISS is a quick flowering pheno of Endless Sky, it gives up some on yield to finish so quick but retains the potency of Endless Sky. I'm starting to see E.S. on a few people's Top 5 Strains list.

An autoflowering AK47 cross will be give you all the items on your list and you could get started for literally $10 (plus shipping of course)

  • Outdoor - yes
  • Feminized - yes
  • Hardy - Ruderalis, double yes
  • Quick to mature/flower - 56 days from sprout to harvest.
  • Total yield/strength NOT as important as above items. - compared to full size plants of similiar genetics (ie AK47) grown in the same space they won't produce as much, won't be as potent ... but they'll be quick and hardy, and some of the autoflower folk get pretty good yield with good potency.

Here's a link to Joint Doctor, Lowlife and Lowryder: all specialize in autoflowers.

ps - glad you like the hermie thread, the Reverse seems to actually work over a few applications.

pss - AK47 smells like a ferel pig who died 4 days ago from the stench of being sprayed by a skunk, then was left in the sun under a black sheet of plastic. This strain would have to be planted far from people but there are plenty of other great autoflowering options.
