New medical patient in Michigan needs advice.

Hey, witchdoctor, I'm posting under a new name. I'm bullgod420 now. I lost all my rep and posts, but I don't want my first name out there.

I figured it out lol. I saw the friend request and backstepped to this thread ;-)

Did you change your room sizes already? Before you had said you were running 1000w in a 7x7 and 1000w in the other 7x7. You are right though, 2000w for a 4x12 is perfect. Once you get the splitters and run 4 hoods you'll be killing it, no need for another 1000w unless you're putting it in another room. I think the biggest reason using splitters with 4 reflectors is so effective isn't even because of the added 400 watts, I think it's because there are more branches with more flowers right directly under the light. When using 1000w, my plants have to be 20-24" away from the tops, but with 2 600w on a splitter they only have to be 14-18" away from the plants and I've got twice as many plants under glass with the same ballast.

So yea, don't worry about another ballast for now, you'll be seriously impressed with your setup and with your yields when you switch it up. By the way, you can always just get one splitter, two reflectors and two 600w bulbs and do a side by side with similar strains on each side. That way you can actually see the difference you get from using the two 600's over the one 1000w.

For sure going to get three splitters and another ballast. I will be buying 6 hoods also. And six super hps bulbs. Do you have any preference on bulbs? I've been using the ones that came with my ballasts and hoods. Probably some cheapos. The apollo bulbs seem to be very cheap. I bought 2 1000w MH bulbs for $55. I just don't have any experience with that many bulbs so input would be appreciated. Also, I will be running 11 more plants, so yeah there will be more space. It's going to be 8 x 14 or so give or take. I want to leave plenty of room around each light to have access to the plants. I heard each 600w will cover 4x4 area. Is that correct? I'm thinking 2 lights will have 3 plants and the rest will have 4. I wont have to veg very long at all. I want to scrog each light next time. Well, anyway here are some pics from tonight.

Your plants are lookin great. I thought you burned some leaves up, musta been other plants?

And yea, a 600w light covers a 4x4 area perfect. In fact, the reflectors I got are perfectly square, they're the only square ones I've seen and they're awesome. And here's the bulbs I use too, plantmax bulbs work great with magnetic ballasts. They're normally $40 though, they go up and down sometimes. http://growgreenmi.com/grow-lights/light-bulbs-1/600-watt/bulb-sod-600w

But if your room is 4x12 right now, and you can make it an 8x12, that would be the perfect size for 6 reflectors and you be saving 600watts a month on your bill. And you'd be able to put out up to 3lbs a month or more on average. I wouldn't make it a 8x14 unless you need to. If you're using white walls I think you'd be better off bouncing any light back to the plants that fit under it than trying to add more plants into the extra 8x2 area. But I've never tried it so I couldn't say for sure. I've never tried light movers either..

Same plants. I've been doing a lot of pruning and defoliating throughout. If a leaf looks bad, I take it off. If a stem looks weak, I cut it off. The super cropping seemed to work pretty well. I know I have more tops than if I would have just topped. The plant in the pics is the bag seed unknown. It's the frostiest of the bunch, and has no smell at all. Looks awesome though. I have more pics from tonight on one of the wwxbb.
