New Light Setup Need Advice - lumatek / ushio

Im in the process of redesigning my grow tent, I was running an 8 year old magnetic ballast in a 4x4x7 tent with decent results, but poor yields. Recently decided to sell my light and pick up some new equipment. Have been reading up and from what I learned a lumatek/ushio setup is the way to go. I was wondering if the 1000w lumatek lk1000 is the way to go or if the newer aircooled version is. I have heard of the new quantums that are aircooled by a fan have been breaking down in the first few months of use. If you could fill me in with some info on the subject it would be much appreciated.

I run lumateks and ushios and love them. I have ran digiluxs which are supposed to be better for the digital ballasts, but I'd put up the argument for ushios any day.

the ushios are the best for digital, hortilux for magnetics. i would not buy a ballast with a fan, just another area to have a problem. get a sealed one like a phantom.

Makes sence the older version is $10 more than the air cooled one from what I can find on ebay.

What are your yields like?

Solid yields, have been averaging 3-3.5 in 5 gallons. Making the transition over to 10 gallons as we speak though...

How many watts are you running?

Running 4 600w over an 8x8 area. Currently upgrading to a 12x12 area with 4 1000w, hence the upgrade to bigger pots.
