New light or????

As of now I am running 1 1k in my 4x8 tent (half for flower other half work space since I dropped a patient and only can have 12 plants) I'm trying to max my yields with what I have. However my tent gets hot and have been looking into a portable a.c. to put in there. However would it be a better option to spend 500 on building a led light to replace my 1k hps or should I keep my current light and buy the a.c. unit?

I would sell your hps, and buy the gear to build your own bridgelux eb strip light.

Wire in paralell
Hlg 480h-24a
16 strips total. 2 ft long each
They come in 1 ft 2 ft 4 ft
I use a mix of 3000k and 5000k
And their mounted on 1/8 aluminum strips
18 gage solid core thermostat wire to connect the strips together

Connect lights to drivers with hookup power cord cable.

And I have no experience in electrical
Took about an afternoon and 6 beer. And 2 grams to build lol

Total cost 375 Canadian.

Lol I won't sell my hps setup I'll keep for a backup. But I'm gonna go threw and check those threads out. Thanks for the input

Are strips better then cob? I'm looking to replace my 1000 watt with a good spread of light

NO NO NO

cobs are easily as good as anything..do not get sucked in..i have cobs/strips/boards...... they all are good

COBs + Strips or QBs would be perfect in tandem.

Like, 600-700w of COB = 1000w of HPS. Don’t quote me, though. In any case, ~300-400w will fill a square meter with the PPFD of a 600w HPS. 200w for half a meter.

I'm not putting one over the other i just have no clue other then the little I read about them on this site. I just don't want to spend alot of money on a light that don't compare to my 1000 watt.

Is there any way to make them run on a 220v plug?

I love the mid power. I've got mine like 3 inches from the canopy.

And I grew 1.5lb after a few mistakes on one of these lights. On 4 autos.

Checkout my threads . I approve the strips. Especially if you have any kind of height limits

It's better to train for an even canopy with these though. And lollipop

of course ..all the drivers do all wattages

and yer cobs/strips/panels run on lesser dc voltage..but remember the "no tongues on em" rule

They can be, it depends. They are very efficient. They can give an excellent spread of light and can be run closer to the canopy than cobs... good if vertical space is limited.

I believe they can be built in that configuration. Are you in the UK? If so, @Gimmetheweeda post the link to the model you ordered. Or @CobKits do you ship to UK?

ffs..look at ALL the led drivers 90-100,000 volts ac
ok i went over board but 240ac is on allthe drivers..
and in case you missed it..leds run on DRI/vers
[drivers ac][ leds dc]
sorry.. its the coffee and i am definitely no guru

This is my current run. SR-71 PK x Sour Diesel and Sour Diesel. 2 weeks, 3 days from seed. 200w of COB @ 18”, absolutely no stretch. The Sour Diesel is a bit stretchy at the stem because I thought it wasn’t going to pop and it popped outside of my closet in the pot, which I put to the side.
