so im on my first grow and the plants are lookin healthy but one of them is starting to grow new leaves out of the nodes. i was just wondering if this indicates anything, for example, maturity or sex?
doesn't sound like anything but a leaf, most plants dont sex until after about 40-60 days but it depends on lighting and strain. sativa (skinny leaf, fluffy bud) takes longer than indica plants ( fat leaf, heavier bud).

I got some useful info on determining the sex of a plant in veg. If it was grown from seed this is what you need to know.
Cannabis grown from seed dawns pre-flowers after the fourth week of vegetative growth. They generally appear between the fourth and sixth node from the bottom of the plant. Cannabis plants are normally either all male or all female. Each sex has its own distinct flowers. Pre-flowers will be either male or female. Female pre-flowers, i.e white pistils grow from newly formed green calyxs. Female pre-flowers usually sprout after male pre-flowers.
