hey what's up, decided to register here and share my progress as I grow 15 afghani bombay kush clones and 2 grand daddy purple clones.

this is my 3rd grow, the first one was four seedlings which didnt turn out all that well but was good for a first grow, the second was about 20 plants which werent very well taken care of.... this time around is going to be different though.

I have a small shed that I have wrapped the inside with reflective garade door insulation found at home depot. I purchased an AC/dehumidifier unit from Sharp which sits in the back corner. I have 12 hydro plants and five soil plants. My lights are one 1000w HPS and one 400w HTL/EN it says.. still definately learning but got the right setup. Pic included in attachment.

I have a 100gallon reservoir which floods the 12 hydro plants four times a day. The water comes from an underground well so its already about 70degrees and a lot cleaner than city water. I have the Hanna combo meter ppm/ph/ec which works wonders. I am using Supernatural Grow and Bloom Aqua as my nutes with some Bud Blaster. I am also using Superthrive. For the soil they get Grow Big and Tiger Bloom.

I have been veg'ing since 06/16/08 so just over two weeks with a planned flowing process to begin right around july 16th. the plants as you can see in the pics are already getting quite tall so should be just about the right time to switch.

i did have a couple questions maybe someone could answer about the possibility of putting multiple plants into one bucket for future grows, like 2 per bucket? anyway i check these babies daily so i will be posting pics through the process now I found a good place to do so.

also the last pic is grand daddy purple, it split in two on its own which is kinda a bummer but those clones weren't looking that solid looking in the first place. the circuit blew in the first week when it was very hot so i saved them so that could be why.

i mean 5 gallon buckets not 1 gallon. anyone offer any advice from what i have given? ph water is 5.8.. soil s 6.3-6.5.. temp low 70s. room temp is 75degrees.

so i can probably fit at least 2 plants in each container?

one plant per pot (unless you are growing in a tray or something).

i'm surprised your plants are looking as healthy as they are with those high res temps you told me about. hopefully that will continue... i was not so lucky.

yea i havent had any problems except some yellowish leaves early in the process but i used some stress relief from supernatural which got their color back. the temp in the reservoir is now 76degrees. i just put some air rocks into the reservoir to hopefully help with the algae and chlorine if there is any from the well. otherwise turned the temp on the ac unit down to 66degrees today (its about 105degrees outside) and after this grow plan on moving the reservoir close to the ac unit so everything should be rockin by then. trial and error.

you better rap them buckets that are white with some mylar or paint them black,or your going to be fighting mold like a banchie. Its not molding yet, but you watch youl have root rot so quick, you will be hating it. your light is penatrating threw to the bottom were your roots will be.

i havent had any problems with mold during the first grow which was in the same buckets. ive been told that light penetrates around 4feet down and the lights are about 2 feet above most of the plants. the hydro store that sold the setup only changed his recommendation of the black to the blue hoses for algae purposes.

will be dropping the water temp today to help and just purchased a new 1000w hps for the start of flowering.

day 25 of veg cycle. the hydro plants are way bigger than the soil ones and i have one little straggler which will probably need more vegging time once im ready to switch to flowering next week.

everything is excellent.. ive been just giving the clones fresh water w no nutes every 2 weeks so as of right now they're in ph balanced 73degree water, with a room temp of 74degrees.. not as hot here lately either so the Afghani Bombay Kush plants look amazing its just the Grand Daddy Purples im having trouble keeping the lower leaves happy.. they are the final 2 pictures.

i have been using SuperThrive which has been amazing in minimizing stress and keeping these babys forest green.

They are looking good! :leaf:

I love how fast they grow in hydro. I was going to switch to soil (to try it out - never did it) but many experienced folks told me i'd just get pissed at how slow they grow :)

Day 31 of veg, i was going to begin flower this week but the plants are only about 9" tall and i want to get them to at least 12".. space isnt an issue just want to get the best yield.

had some minor nute issues so i flushed after noticing for a few days, messed with the mix again and got them back to loving life. the soil ones are starting to catch up finally with me giving them the right nutes. i had given them tiger bloom instead of big bloom, got confused but they're bushy as hell.

should be flushing again in a week just before flower mixes go in, should be looking good.. i tried to get more closeups of the hairs and goodness i have been witnessing just in veg.

also ill start taking pics in flower with a digital camera once i find a battery charger.

day 32 of veg.

plants are showing lots of new growth, should get them up to the height i want in a week or two. otherwise the soil ones are catching up quite nicely as well.

Height is just one factor in determining when to flower. Ideally, you'd wait until the plant shows preflowers but most of us indoor growers do not have the space to allow for this since they at least double in size after switching to 12/12. i find they usually at least triple in size.

Rather than focus on height, i would count the number of nodes (don't flower before at least 7 or 8 nodes) and also how thick and hardy the branches are (to support heavy buds).

What i'm saying is - a 24" plant may not be ready to flower cause it is stretched and spindly but a thick, fat and strong 8" tall bush can be put into 12/12 without problems.

ya i hear ya, well the pre-flowers are a plenty right now just the stalk isnt that thick. i have friends who wait for the stock to get the thickness of their pinky before they flower. i figure if i went to flower now i'd be fine but im gonna wait a week maybe let some of these soil ones catch up.

well this is unfortunate but i kind of saw this coming. during installing the room we had some power issues and well it sent the plants into flower when they were just seedlings, hense why the plants arnt very tall after a month of veg. so im going to go pickup some new clones that are ready to goto 12/12 right now, plant those in soil and send them all into flower and see what happens. going to watch closely for any hermiphrodites during this process and hope to salvage these ones and crank out some solid plants w the new clones i will get next week.

im gonna trim these suckers up from the bottom and see if i can induce some growth at the top.

veg day 40. these are an example of what happens when you mess up with the light cycle (the breaker blew and could have most likely left them dark for 14hrs). i had this feeling when i planted them with pre-flower things already happening but figured id paid for em might as well keep em going.

i trimmed them up except the top 3 nodes and replaced the 1000w HPS with a new Hortilux bulb. Lots of new growth. Will be going to 12/12 in 4 days when I will be getting about 10 new plants ready for flower as well.. so my next post will contain pics of what the vegging clones should have looked like. good learning experience.

well time to relaunch this sucker. my original plants upon derooting most of the plants seemed to be growing fine, the roots were spread out and solid.. just got its growth stunted by one day in over 100degree heat when the power blew and sent them into almost deathly shock which they could never recover from.

anyway i picked up 15 more afghani bombay kush clones, i sent them to flower yesterday when i took these pics so day one of flower pretty much. will be watering them tonight and will further track their progress here. checkout the difference in size between the ones i had and the ones i got. i didnt kill all of mine but cut it down to very minimal so it doesnt take up the light on the ones whom are growing very well.

here's the updated pics on the grow, 15 soil afghani bombay kush and 7 hydro. all of which are doing very well.. i think we're about 2 1/2 weeks into flower. all levels are amazing, summer is coming to a close temperatures are down and very nice flowers are forming.

one month into flower, here's what we're looking like. the hydro plants have caught up with the soil plants, all of which look extremely healthy. I gave these ones a blast of 1200ppm nute mix in which im hoping to help enduce more heavy blossoming/budding. looking very thick one month in, this last month is going to be exciting.
