Hey OldSchool, welcome to the forum I was wondering what kind of hydro set-up are you running and how have you noticed the "indusrty" change over the years? I'm thinking mainly of technology and technique here.

As far as technology I think the amount of equipment available for automation is outstanding. The lights and especially hoods available now I never had access to. The nute selections, ph-ppm meters etc.
As far as technique the amount of information from the internet has made alot easier for growers. I went to alot of librarys and read all I could, I remember ordering nutes from a company I found in popular mechanics. The amount of different ways people grow now is incredible, the root balls on the bubble buckets are also incredible.
All I have ever run was dry nutes and the nute market now is huge business along with all the other products available now.
I'll try to add to this post as I can, the memory isn't as good as it used to be.

I think the nutes available today are way overpriced and people are paying alot just for water, and I think that some of those nute companies don't really care about growers just the profits, maybe some of the owners of those companies are here answering questions? I don't know? I do know 1 of the so called mj nute companies is using urea nitrogen in their hydro version instead of nitrate and that is just being cheap as you can be, urea has no place in hydro, maybe in real small quanities but I try to avoid it.
The next nute I am going to try is Peters pro series dry nute, alot of people like them. 1/2 tsp of the 5-11-26 and 1/4-1/2 tsp of the cal nitrate per gallon and your good to go. It is a hard page to read, black background.

And as far as being late to the party? I don't post much, I've got cancer and a bad heart (3 heart attacks) and just wanted to share info while I still can.

LOVE to hear opinions from an old school cat;welcome. please forgive my rant. I'm all +1 on nute companies ripping you off. it's a formula for them water+ pretty picture+ color+ impossible promises in a neat container=proft for the most part. I've done some clone studies of my own on nutrients and can't find anything that works better then you're run of the mill tomato food (I'm a soil guy now, when using hydro I never strayed from general hydroponics). welcome, and forgive me you seem a straight shooter and here for all the right reasons. My bad.

Gh has some good nutes, I think their dry maxi series is ok but I think there are better deals out there. Murfy I haven't tried the oil yet.

I'd order them online man. Guaranteeing your genetics is your first key to success. Do a little research on good breeders. I suggest Sannie myself but I know there are other good ones also through The Attitude also, depending on what you're looking for.. Sannie is A+ though man and guaranteed delivery.
