my advice would be to not over water them
and look into a mycorrhizae and probiotics like this

man i have much respect for the soil growers who can pull it off. im using air injection soil cause it will give me both worlds hydro and soil. I will go pure hydro with tons of air injection but this is my stepping stone. Ive grown outdoors in soil and did excellent. Good luck brother and good luck.

run dmt i would go to modularhydro.com watch video on air injection soil. now the size of pot you start with you end with so for your setup use 2-5 gall. now with this a 2 gallon works like a 4 gall ect. the roots gro diff than anyother systen they make layers from top to bottom its really cool. also dotn get 1 light read this https://www.rollitup.org/led-other-lighting/786696-led-lights-work.html get 2 of the smaller ones they are 3 watt diodes and 7 band so you can be able to adjust lights better since some plants go taller than others. even look into the 5 bucket system for hydro, if you dont mind paying more for startup.

funny you should mention that I just looked into buying the dank daddy hydro soil system which is 3 gallons
I already bought my light (couldnt pass up on 400w for £100) but it is full spectrum (430~440nm, 450~475nm 620~630nm, 650~660nm, IR 730nm and white)
Do you think this will be ok or should I maybe add a cfl to cover the additional light needed

I would buy another you want to have 100% coverage of your room. and enough space to work in also with 2 of them you want to look into schrog. i see all kinds of growers using a small version over each plant so they can even each plants tops. i would also buy an air pump and inject tons i mean tons of air into each pot. get a big one for ponds with a splitter ot make splitters now i am not a fan of air stones so either make or buy air injection kits from modularhydro.com i made mine takes allot of t connectors get the air pump and then get the splitters. if you make your own also need stainless steel washers to hold lines down. if you are gonna split the tent into 2 parts maybe 2 t5's but i would jsut get another led panel. that one is good one at a good price.
