Hi everyone,

First time grower here, trying to soak up and learn whatever knowledge i can.

I just recently germinated 6 seeds using shot glass and paper towel method. That was 6 days ago.
3x heavyweight fruit punch and 3x Atomic by Bomb seeds

All 6 sprouted tap roots but only 4 have started growing since being placed in the solo cups.
1x Atomic
3x fruit punch

They have been under CFL bulbs for 24 hours/day since popping out of the ground, soon to be moving into their new home ( 4x4x7) tent

New tent has 600w hid mh/hps light, 6 inch carbon filter and fan and 2 clip on fans.

First question : do my plants look to be healthy? i notice one seems to be stretchy compared to other the 3 and i was also a little worried about the leaves drooping on 1 or 2( maybe thats normal?) ive been so nervous about under and over watering im driving myself crazy lol.

Second question: when i move them into new tent and under new light, should i just use the hand test for light distance? or should new seedlings be kept at a certain set distance for a 600w mh?

Thanks everyone, this site has been very useful to a new grower getting started.

they look great i wouldn't worry. when you transplant, bury up to the cotyledons (starter leaves). use the hand test, but also keep them far away. seedlings don't need much light. at least 30" from the 600.

good luck.

They look good man! I would throw them in with that 600.

Thanks very much guys, it helps ease my mind to hear from other more experienced growers.

Plants will be moving into new home tomorrow, I ran out of 6 inch flex hose to complete my fan/filter setup.

Another question , if you don't mind.

This time of year our climate is very cold, having heaters all turned on is making things quite dry , RH in my basement where my tent is setup is reading only 27% and so far inside my tent is showing even less at 21%.

From what i have read, these numbers are very low for good growth.

My question is should i buy a humidifier? or is there another solution experienced growers are using to combat humidity?

Thanks everyone

I use this site a lot check this article I think it’ll help you with that. https://www.growweedeasy.com/humidity

Hi, Thanks for the link, i have actually read that article, its where i got the guideline numbers for humidity levels.

its definitely telling me i need to increase humidity, my main question was whether i needed a humidifier or i could achieve the correct numbers through some other means that you weed geniuses have come up with lol.

Thanks, i appreciate the response.

Lol no problem man. I couldn’t remember if that article had information on how to manipulate humidity levels or not. Personally I’m a new grower so I’m not the best source for this but I know I’ve read about growers using a spray bottle to mist water on the plants and up humidity. You could try doing this and checking your levels after. I also remember reading that leaving a pot of open water in the room will increase it although I’m not sure how much. I think with it being as low as your saying you could pick up a inexpensive humidifier, one thing though it sounds like you’re natural levels will be good for flowering we’ll the end anyway. Maybe an experienced grower can shed some light here.

Hey man, thanks for the info.

I actually just watched a video on youtube of a guy increasing his humidity by placing a bowl of water with a small towel hanging above it, with just the edges of the towel sitting in the water, i guess the towel soaks the water upwards, helping pull it into the air? not sure to be honest, but it seemed to work for him.

So much to learn lol

Hey guys,

4 girls all seem to be doing well, i topped up cups with soil , help support the stems a bit. That was 2 days ago. I gave all 4 a good water/runoff shortly after that evening.

I notice today that the 1 with most vigorous growth seems very light /dry while the other 3 all still seem pretty heavy/moist

my question, is this normal for 1 to completely suck the cup dry at same time other 3 barely taking any water from cup it seems.

Obvious answer would be, obv the bigger girl is gonna drink more, right?

i assumed they would stay on a similar watering schedule, kinda surprised me i guess.
