Okay i have 250watt mh and a 250watt hps bulbs. And one fixture i plan on trading out the mh bulb when it comes time to flower to the hps bulb. But my ? would be how many plants can i fit under it and get good results?

all depends on the size of the plant. you could grow 20 plants SOG style probabaly
if you want a plant about 2 ft tall and bushy i would go with just one plant for optimal results.

agreed, 1 plant per 100W is usually the rule of thumb. Of course you could always stuff more but then you wouldn't have as good results

Thank you both 100w per plant thats the answer i was looking for just want to get 2 going and produce the best quility first. Then get bigger once i have it down. The cfl idea is really great idea to think i will throw a couple in there just to reach everything

Now the SOG method is more for the more expert grower rt? i thought that was alot more involved? Once you start producing good buds then build up

SOG is typically lots of small plants with little or no veg time packed tightly together. Typically between one and 4 plants per square foot. So in a 2'x2' space you could have up to 16 small plants in 6"x6" containers.

Mr.Ganja does that have to be hydro or can it be soil? and do you get good results out of a sea of green? In your opinion? Thank you for taking the time to answer these to.

SOG can be any medium. Personally I like a few larger plants instead of lots of little ones. It's easier to deal with.
The trick is to get a nice even canopy with lots of bud sites all at the same level. For example, this is 4 plants in a 4' x 4' space:

Thats kinda the way i'm leaning towards eaiser to deal with. At least for the first grow, Now what type of soil sould i go with cause i have heard not to use MG soil but have seen it produce nice plants of Lemon Haze. Any opion on that?

I'd suggest using coco instead of potting mix. Definitely stay away from anything MG related.

Hey totally irrelevant to helping you, but maybe you can give me advice. Ive grown with t-5s but im thinkin about switching to hps or metal halide, ive been online and found MH & HPS fixtures ranging from $40-$400 and im just wondering what i need to order other then bulbs and the fixture?

ive found this online, i know it needs a bulb but what else? can i just put a bulb in this and properly ventilate and be good to go? or is there another part i need to order because im finding things like that, and then im finding ventilating hoods that look like the come with an amp for a subwoofer. (lol i probably sound like an amateur there but i am one so its okay) just some advice would be helpful

You need three things: ballast, bulb, reflector. Simple as that.

I have a few other questions if you dont mind.
Is it true 100w per plant?
Is the benefit of HPS and MH over T-5 really worth it?
Am i safe starting a seedling using a MH?

That all depends on the size of the plants. Sure you can start a seedling under MH, but keep the light fairly far away.

im working with a cabinet thats probably 4 feet wide x 4 feet deep and about 6 feet tall id think id probably put two or three plants in it.
would a 400w HPS & MH be sufficient?
also when working with HPS & MH does a auto flower respond better or should i just go with a simple feminized?

I would get a 600w HPS for that space. Maybe get a dimmable one if you are worried about power. You can run hps or mh lamps with hps ballast. You can do hps start to finish. Halide is not necessary.

Lol okay MG bad no MG,and stick with the coco thru the whole process (clone to bud) ? Now i know no nutes for the first two weeks what should my readings be at week 3 for nutes?

So Pj i only have one reflector and ballest and was planing on changing out the bulb when it came time to harvest,from mh to hps really dont need to do this?
