New Grower-HELP!

Hello everyone. I've been smoking fo awhile and finally decided to try my hand @ growing. I had some seeds from some previous mary jane I smoked. I placed the seeds in the soil outside and I've been watering except when it rains. Did I do enough to make these seeds grow? Or should I purchase seeds? Which is quicker to grow inside or out? Although I smoke I'm very ignorant when it comes to growing. PLEASE HELP!:weed:

I've only grown indoors, but I can give you my personal opinion on my experiences.

Now that I've grown indoors I will probably always grow indoors. If you grow indoors then you can control your environment so it fits your plants needs to a T. Not to mention you don't have to worry about bugs, pests, intruders, and all that stuff. It should also be quicker because you can initiate flowering whenever you want to (usually after a month of veg is good enough), but if you toss a seed in the ground in April, don't expect to see buds until the fall because it's the light cycle that initiates flowering.

And to answer your first question, usually just tossing the seeds into the ground is good enough to get them growing (they're "weeds" after-all). Actually they're flowers, but regardless...

There are lots of benefits to each, but my preferred method is and always will be indoor.

Since you stated your base of knowledge of growing is very minimal, I recommend reading a good book on the topic. Look for a growing book by Ed Rosenthal or Jorge Cervantes and give it some quality time. That is absolutely the best thing you can do at this point.

Skolar, to funny. I went outdoors last year and don't think I'll go back to indoor. one branch off the outdoor was about my indoor yield. I still grow indoors just don't ever flower. You do get some odd things going outside. Had a bunch of pheasants land in and take out a very nice plant. I was lucky it was only a few days before scheduled harvest. green house this year.

if uv got the space in the house then the best way to learn about growing is indoors. u get to see the palnt every day and monitor the grow cycle, i agree with glShemp in as much as you should read a good book/spend time in here but i also think that if u can afford to start straight away then do so. to give any more advice at this poin would be useless. we really need to know what amount of cash, space and time u would have to devote to the grow. as for outside grows that is very dependant on where u live, california has a different weather system than scotland.

Everyone on here has great opinions and i would agree with the indoor growers like dura says you can really care for your plants more because you can control just about everything that goes on in their life forever but it has its downfalls, outdoors is good too very high yields and is really more for someone who wants to taste more natural flavored herb both have their ups and downs of course look into both and decide which is best for you and your situation

Out door gives higher yield, but has many pitfalls. As mentioned above pests, intruders, animals. But if your going to grow outside do it right. Chicken wire around the area, if possible dig a hole, line it in thick plastic so prevent unwanted underground visitors. Use good soil and good nutes, ensure its legal or well hidden. Use a veg and flower sage pesticide all around the area. Make sure there is nothing that can get to it. You can also line the box made of chicken wire in thick window plastic to create a green house effect.

in the end there are a lot of things you can do it all comes down to how YOU want to do it, how much money you have to put into it, if its legal or not if you trust the people around you not to harvest before you do. take everthiny into consideration.
