WELL.... WHAT CAN I SAY.. I BEN BROWSING AROUND GOOGLE LOOKING AT FORUMS FOR ABOUT A WEEK NOW AND I DECIDED TO JOIN THIS SITE BECAUSE YOU GUYS SEEM TO KNOW WHATS UP!

OK SO ONTO THE SUBJECT AT HAND.. THIS WEEKEND I WILL BE SETTING UP MY GROW AREA FOR 2 INDOOR PLANTS. I HAVE MY MEDICAL CARD SO IM GOING TO BE PICKING UP A NORTHERNLIGHTS AND WHITE WIDOW CLONE TODAY AFTER WORK.

I FIGURE 4 CFLS WILL WORK, GOING TO USE COOL WHITE BULBS FOR THE VEG. WHAT WATTAGE / LUMENS HAVE YOU GUYS FOUND USEFULL? OH AND SOIL... PLEASE SUGGEST SOME SOIL BRANDS AND TYPES....

ANY HELP FROM CFL GROWERS WOULD BE GREAT! THANKS FOR YOUR EXPERT HELP GUYS... HOLD MY HAND ON THIS ONE PLEASE.... LETS DO THIS TOGETHER... TELL ME WHAT TO BUY... :?::weed:

dont waste your time with cfls. if your going to do it go all out and get all the right equipment: hps light, inline fan with filter, circulating fans, etc.as far as soil goes fox farm ocean forest is great, i like to mix in 30% perlite for added aeration and drainage. do a bit more reading and you will find these answers yourself.

.

I second Irieie's thoughts on CFLs, it takes a lot of skill to get good bud with low intensity lighting. An easier route would be HPS for flower - brighter and cooler than CFLs of the same voltage.

Download the Introduction to Weed Science or start in Grow Lab, if you want to know more about that style please post in the Grow Lab thread.

For soil depends on what u have availible in your area . Stick with good soil though I have used Fox Farms Happy Frog and Ocean Forest, Roots Organic and such . Black Gold can be found at some garden centers it,s a pretty fertile cheaper soil . Do buy some extra perlite and mix it in your soil to improve drainage use up to 25% perlite .If your on a budget and CFL's are all you got ,they work fine you just get a lower overall yield , Its best to LST or top your plants with CFL's for an even canopy and light distribution . Go do some nosing around in the CFL section and read up on how to use them .

What size space are you going to be working with?

sorry caps is not broken but i do online machinery catalogs and i always use caps.... um i have a ton of mh bulbs... no joke we have a pallet of them for some reason at work... but i dont have the fixture... i wanted to use cfl bulbs this time tho guys... hps bulbs for the next grow.. so all of you guys say the fox farm is great. do i need neuts right from the start?

also i was thinking of using 2 t8 bulbs along with the cfls.... any thoughts on that?

oh and space doesnt matter, however i have about a 3x3 area i was thinkin of for the 2 plants...

1 suggestion..

just get a 600W digi.. if you ever upgrade you can just get another.. I use 1000W HPS and wish I had gone with the 600's for a few different reasons... If you start too small like you plan to, eventually that money will eventually be considered a waste.. The 600 will do you right for years to come...

Best of luck to you..

pretty much im going to home depot today to buy stuff after work... i just dont want my electric bill going all crazy...

thanks for the tip reef! ill look into that for sure! but this week i will start with the cfls.... but yeah i totally will be using mh/hps next grow...

i was wondering if i need to add anything to the soil besides the perlite? i see some people throwing in rusty nails and rocks into their soil... any thoughts on that?

I'm not a soil guy, do you have a grow store near you? They are usually pretty well informed on such matters... They would also carry any lights you may be looking for, sometimes they sell rebuilt ballasts as well to save a few bucks...

thanks again reef! im looking on googlemaps to see what i can find near me... so far the hardest part is finding the soil!!!

A big big piece of advice, really get to know your grow store.. stop in often, chit chat with them, ask hundreds of questions etc etc.. I damn near get an employee discount now ;) Not that they know it all, but they will know enough to get you well on your way my friend...

yeah im going to have to stop by today and ask more questions... still cant find the soil.... maybe at lowes?
