I just started for the first time about 2 weeks ago and need some help. Since this wasn't planned, I just took some random seeds and germinated them in those Jiffy seed starters. I was able to get 18 seeds to germinate and moved them into 8 pots (Ebb and Grow) under a 400w MH/HPS light. There are 8 plants actually planted and the rest are half planted (doubled/tripled up) but not yet unwrapped from the seed starters (netting still on). I was going to add 4 more hydro pots but don't think the 400w will cover them well enough because the closet is only 2' deep, so they're spread out in a line. I'm not adding another light because this has already become a much bigger project than I wanted/expected.
I hate to get rid of the "extras" and was hoping I could tell sex before randomly dumping them. Should I take off the netting and plant them, then rip out the males/extras once I'm sure I have 8 females?
If I was cloning I wouldn't worry as much -- but right now I have no plans to do so. I don't have another space available to light while these are in 12/12. So whatever the yeild it has to last until next harvest.
Anyone have advice/suggestions? I wanted to take some pics of the layout in case I wasn't clear, but of course my camera battery is dead. Charging now.
