New England outdoors 2018

Is flowering this early common in New England? I'm pretty far north and still getting a lot of sunlight. This is my first grow and I figured flowering wouldn't start for about another month.
Onset of flowering is pretty strain dependent.

We've got some home made Iranian c99 and Iranian MOB crosses about 10 days / 2 weeks into full flower already. Should finish end of August / first week of September. They won't be huge, maybe 3/4 lb, but they won't be moldy either.

I like to hedge my bets and have a handful of early flowering girls to offset the ones which might get big and finish late, or might get big and suffer mold loss. Learned the hard way years ago, always run a few proven early finisher strains and take what you can get on the later ones.

I'm curious now, which strains are you running?

Hey thanks for the insightful reply. The idea of home breeding strains that do especially well in your own climate is so cool. Maybe I will try such things next year.

I bought clones from a local breeder with a good rep. I wanted to try as many strains as possible so I have 1 plant each of blueberry, blueberry headband, blue dream, critical kush, sour diesel, and granddaddy purple. The strain selection was more of a "this is all we have left" type thing since I got started pretty late in the year. I was warned that the sour diesel might not finish in time and the GDP is prone to mold when grown outdoors here, but oh well. I think the blueberry headband may have begun flowering, as it seems to really be stretching compared to the other plants.

Checked on them today after giving them a TBS/gallon of Epsom salts and 2 oz/ Gallon Neptune’s harvest on Sunday. Plants are looking much better. Still lacking I believe another dose of Epsom salts will do the trick.

Some of my plants are starting to go into flower as well. Very early stages but getting there !

This is the banana og in a 30 gallon pot. About 6.5 feet tall.

Marmalate in 30 gallon fabric pot doing better after 5 gallons of Neptune’s harvest blend and Epsom salts

Green poison in a 20 gallon fabric pot getting very bushy with the super cropping I’ve been doing to her. AED0A280-71CC-48AE-80F2-5F6EAB78F618.jpeg
And then an sbr in a 20 gallon fabric pot.

Got a few clones in the corn. This is a fruity chronic juice. 973983BB-2131-40B2-B49E-EBBD36D91A5D.jpeg

That Banana OG is exceptionally good looking. The shape is what I am striving for with my pruning. Looks like a scrog with no net! Awesome work.

Hey guys and gals...can we talk stretching real quick?

As of today, both my Amnesia Haze are sitting in 5 gallon smart pots and are around 40 inches tall.

This is my first time growing anything Sativa dominant, and I've read that they can double or triple during the stretch. Is that accurate? Am I going to end up with 10 foot plants? I have topped it several times, and am willing to do whatever LST is acceptable during flower to keep shit under control...but what should I be expecting here?

I also released tie downs at start of flower which may have accelerated growth. I would expect vigorous growth. Epic strain btw nice choice. Thinking about that 1 for next indoor.

Don't know why it posted pic twice eh. The earth is my pot tho. Not sure bout the 5 gal. Maybe rootbind will slow its roll.
Maybe. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Thanks! Amnesia Haze is supposed to be a classic I guess...but not very easy to do well for rookies in the NE? (So I've heard)

Super Skunk and OG Kush are the other 2 strains I have going and they are all around the same size (40 inches). The indicas dont worry me that much. But the idea of a 10 foot Haze in a 5 gal smart pot got me thinking, "uh oh"...Haha

I'll try tying her down to keep things even if it ever starts to get crazy. Good problems to have I guess, since the stem is already as thick as my thumb and the nodes are stacked. Thank God for all this sun.

Based on my impressive 6 months of growing experience (haha), I feel like the weather has been awesome so far.

The last couple weeks have been perfect for them. Hopefully we don't get grundle punched again come fall.

Yea that was fucking brutal. Constant stress about rot and mold and everything. Checking multiple times a day. Playing chicken with the weather trying to let them finish. God that was awful. Maybe we get lucky this year.

Any sativa in NE outdoors w/o controlled climate will test you. Local grow shop dood laughed at me. I made sure he saw finished product. Possible but definitely not for the hobbyists. Defeat is not an option to see this thu.

Aren't you guys hitting it up with Serenade in humid weather? That stuff eats all that gunk, and can be applied wet, dry, in the sun, and on the day of harvest.. It's OMRI approved for organics. Put it on in humid weather or if your buds get all wet.

  • Controls anthracnose, bacterial spot, leaf blight, early and late blights, rust, powdery mildew, gray mold and black mold, and scab
  • contains Bacillus subtilis, a soil-dwelling bacterium that controls leaf blight, black mold, powdery mildew and many other diseases.

I'm curious how you ratio the serenade (assuming you mix from concentrate) with water ?
