Hi Everyone, I've just taken a clone from my plant. I've attached a couple of pics. What does it look like to you? Have i done right? I buried about 2 inches of branch into the pot. Was this right? Thanks. Btw I dipped it in water as soon as i cut it for a few seconds before planting it. Right thing?

ummm, well yeah...

Clones need immense humidity to help them root.
Put a see through plastic bag over it, tapped to thh outside of the pot, and spray it with water at least once a day to help it root.

Dont water the soil directly.

And if possible get it under 24 hours of light...

Ive put a bag over it but the bag is pushing against the leaves forcing them down. Is that ok? Ive also put it in front of a fan heater..

as long as the bag is covering the plant and part of the pot that's ok , if you used some rooting agent you'll have a better rooting %

Inflate the bag as much as possible so it doesnt touch the plant.

And mist some water in there.

Like raise the bag up a bit to the brim of the pot and tape it to get a decent seal..

I was just thinking the leaves wont be able to spread as the bag is restricting them. Ill put a bigger bag around it. Also will my main plant need to recover from the cutting?

Im having real trouble getting a bag around it without the bag touching the plant. Does anyone have any other suggestions? If you look at the original pic i posted the leaves are nice firm and straight. Now they are drooping and im worried!...

Is it ok being left out on the window sill? The window sill is a little building at the back of our house. Its quite chilly out there, its winter here but i do have the main plant there aswell...

Nope the plant to successfully root will need 24 hours of light, it will not help if you cant give it a good 24 hours of light.

the clone has already undergone less than ideal root forming expierinces and the least you could do to help it it buy a CFL lightbulb and stick it two inches above the clone turned on 24 hours a day...

Right now its still sealed up within the clear bag and the leaves are still being squashed by the bag. Im thinking that might not be so bad after all. Do the leaves really need to stretch out? Anyway its nighttime now so i cant do much more with it. Hopefully it will enjoy some sunlight in the windowsill tomorrow?

Unfortunetely i dont have a light for it! Is there not any chance it will root with a good amount of sun in the windowsill each day?

Unfortionalty you are telling the plant to flower, not grow.

so you are telling the plant hey make buds/flowers while its like but I cant eat!!

you need to tell the plant hey GROW.. heres the proper light to do so.. 24 hours a day.

So are you saying you can only grow clones with artificial light?

Not nessecarily, but I will bet my grow on the fact that your chances are less than nill if you dont put it on a veggin shedule with the conditions you have provided.

In addition cloning isnt something that happens randomly in nature, it was found possible under ideal conditions and is easily repeated under the same.

Im not saying you cant do it under 12/12 because I have seen it done, but the conditions and enviroment were ideal, in addition to using rooting hormone and it still took 21 day for a root to form.

If you do get it to take it wont be for at least two weeks to four weeks from now..

So if i left it on the window sill each day and it did grow roots it would start flowering right away? There's no way to veg it in the sunlight?
