So a year or two ago I fucked around with an aerogarden deluxe and grew a couple (2) plants at my friends place until they outgrew the stock lighting. I sold it to another buddy for $200 and haven't tried growing anything since.
Now that I have my medical card and my own apartment I decided to try again. The other day I went to home depot and built a tent out of PVC and panda film to take up half my door-less walk in closet (2.5x8x
. My grow room dimensions are 2.5'x4.5'x7'. I used aluminum tape to seal everything and make sure its completely light proof. My intake is on the floor of the tent and is just some ducting running through the side into the rest of my closet with an inline fan. My exhaust is a 250CFM blower I hooked up to my 600w air cooled hood (its pretty nice) and ran the ducting out the top of the tent into my bedroom near my window. I originally had the blower and exhaust also in my closet (the un-tented side), but the temps were getting too hot with an additional tapestry covering the closet entrance (im guessing mid 80s F) and that plants were starting to look droopy. However, I'm not sure they were drooping as a result of the temps, so please keep reading.
The plants I am using are mothers with great genetics I got from a friend. I have 3 plants- Vortex, MK Ultra, and OG Kush, all standing about 2.5 ft tall. I have them under a 600w Metal Halide bulb at the moment, I'm going to give them about a week before I switch over to a nice Hortilux HPS bulb and start blooming.
I got them 3 days ago in small pots that I knew they would out grow, so I transplanted them into 5 gal bags with roots organic soil. Roots organic has a bunch of goodies for the ladies in it already, but I was stoned when I was doing this and didn't even think about letting the plants absorb the soil's nutes before adding my own.
My friend came over and we mixed up a big batch of nutes using the full Cutting Edge Solutions line up with all the additives and some hygrozyme and fed 'em. That was two days ago. The plants are looking kind of unhealthy (some spotchy leaves on one plant, nute burned edges on two of them, and purple stems on all of them) so I thought I'd get some input from you guys. I also took some pictures to help you guys get an idea of what I'm working with here.
EDIT: I used a light meter this morning. The center plant, which looks more healthy (read: less droopy) than the two on the outside, is getting so much light it goes off the meter (over 500 foot candles). The plants on the sides, however, are only getting about a tenth of that light (anywhere from less than 50 to 100 foot candles). I was thinking about going to home depot and buying 2x 65w (200w) 2700K CFL's with clamping reflective hoods so I can direct the light directly at the two side plants. Sound like a good idea?
