Don't really know because it's been awhile since I used epsom salt and not cal-mag. Measure it before and after and let the group know. Anyway, it's not the total ppm that you are worried about. It's just the ppm of the nutes themselves that count. I add all kinds of additives like LK and cannazyme. I measure my nutes only before I add any additives so I know the base accurately. My totals run in the low to mid 2000's with all the additive and my hard water when in full veg or full flower. Around 1200 nutes, 800-900 additives and 350-400 water.

ok, the ppm was still 900. i added 1 tsp for 2.5 gall of water and ppm jumped up to 1200. now, with my water being 300 or more, i added 900 of nutrients. checked ph, and just here to wait and see.....

Not well water, just hard city water. My area is known for it's hard water. Lot's of limestone in the groundwater.

Don't expect immediate results. Let it sit in the tank and do it's work.

10-4 crazy. i change my res every week due to high res temps and crappy tap water. i just changed it this morning so i have a7-10 days before i make a new batch. should i be adding epsom everytime i make a new res solution?

Depends on how they respond but it things go well then yes. I use cal-mag every grow and every res change. I play with the dosage a little bit but not much. I use cal-mag when I notice the same problem you had but couldn't name it then. Some kind soul helped me and I'm just passing along info at this point. Seems my water is very strong in calcium but it's not exactly the kind that the plant needs because it is not soluble. Not saying you will need cal-mag at all. Everybodies tap water is different and we let the plant tell us what she needs.
