hello every one i have a ? i have a couple of plants started off outside, well the other day we had a hail storm and it broke the top off of one of my plants so i stuck the top back into the pot and packed dirt in loosely around it (i did this because i was bored) so over the last couple of days we have had overcast skies and rain so i did not check on them for about 4 days. i check on them yesterday and the little top seems to be alive and health and the stem is starting new growth. oh yeah the little gals (i hope) are around 10" tall as of now, so my ? is did i just clone a new plant?

make sure it doesnt dry out and if it gets really hot try to keep it in the shade.

but ya sounds like miraculously you cloned your plant

I had a hail storm in my area as well but they only beat up my veggie garden and ornamentals. Watch your potential new clone carefully over the next few weeks. Oftentimes cuttings can appear viable for several days then suddenly begin to wilt as they use up moisture stored in the stem and leaf tissues. Since it is outside in warm weather it is impractical (possibly lethal from heat-buildup) to place a humidity dome or other means of conserving moisture. I've had decent sucess rates cloning outside using a simple application of a anti-transpirant such as "Wilt Pruf" and keeping the soil media pretty moist. The difference is I've always placed them alone in a small container. You might have problems extracting the clone from the pot without slightly damaging the roots system(s) of both plants but waiting at least 3-4 weeks may be OK if done carefully.

That is quite amazing, that it rooted. You will really need to keep it moist, and it might just be using up the food in the stalk.

It needs to me misted quite often and best to keep it out of direct sunlight.

Good Luck

Very nice, I did this too last year, but rooted a little cutting under my main plant so it got shade, was just for fun really.
