nesting DWC bucket?

I thought about this after seeing self watering soil buckets and haven't seen anything like it being done in dwc. Is there any reason you couldn't take a complete dwc bucket system, drill some 1/2"-3/4" holes all around the perimeter and bottom, about 1/4-1/2 the way up and then just put it into another bucket that holds solution? So you would have a solid bucket with just nutes, and a perforated bucket with net pot/media and an air stone in it that you could pull out. I think it could make managing multiple single DWC's easier. The roots are always contained, and if I'm thinking about it correctly, it should give you a little more nutrient capacity. Thoughts ,ideas, criticism? If this is a common practice..sorry for bringing it up.
