im going to upgrade my CFL grow today to give it a bit more power (and tripling the wattage)

just looking for a bit of advice from the more experienced CFL growers, i only want to buy one type of bulb due to budget, i cant afford 6400k bulbs AND 2700k bulbs, so i have 3 options:

1) just buy 6400k's for the rest of veg and all of flowering

2) just buy 2700k's for the rest of veg and all of flowering

3) buy a dual bulb which has both ( like this one Dual 125w Hydroponics CFL & hanger grow light lamp bulb on eBay, also Hydroponics, Plants Seeds Bulbs, Garden Plants, Home Garden (end time 12-Aug-08 20:00:12 BST) )

anyone have any suggestions? does the type of bulb really make THAT much of a difference during flowering? any comments are welcome!

It might depend on how much vegg time you have left, or whether or not you plan on doing another grow, but I'm thinking you want to get the most out of your flower cycle. That means get the 2700k. It does make a difference.
Of course if you have several weeks of veg left, that means you have at least 10 weeks to go. You might want to get the 6500k now and sometime during the next ten weeks you might come across the cash to add some 2700k's later. Besides that... your plants are going to get much bigger during flowering. You are going to need more bulbs than you currently have so keep this in mind. Grow with your grow ;) and good luck.

i think im going to veg until the end of this month (another 20 days) then switch to 12/12 for 8 weeks, so on the face of it i should buy 2700k's, but will 2700k's be sufficient for the rest of veg?

It should be fine for only 20 more days, but idk what lights you have now or how big the plant is. I still like the 2700k's. You are doing this for the buds right? The buds want 2700k.

what do you know about Sylvania 150 watt replacement using only 40 watts , soft white cfl's. will it work.

I think most people agree that "soft" is rather vague. But to me soft bulbs LOOK more like warm than cool. I stayed away from "soft" and made sure i got cool or warm.

I've been thinking of one or 2 of these...CERTAINLY sounds like its worth a crack - but it IS kinda expensive for me when I'm just experimenting on my 1st grow...IF your growing/planning more than I am I'd have a go with it :blsmoke:
