hey, I have 11 plats started as u can see that are just over two weeks old from seed. I am growing with a metal halide 400 watt light and mega soil (Canadian). I was wondering if u have any tips for me as well for nutrients. as far as adding nutrients from what I have gathered u add one tsp per gallon of water. how do u dd the nutrients to the water? are u using pellets and letting it absorb overnight and watering after? I live in canada so I don't have a lot of the brands the forums mention besides miricale grow lol ( touchy subject ive seen lol ). also there are many mixed reviews for height of mh lights. mine was around three feet but I have lowerd today to about 20 inches from top of plant with a fan pointed up at the light to keep cool. and again please give me any tips and let me know anything I am doing worng. thanks a lot gareth

Welcome to RIU!!! Do you have drain holes in your pots? I would not recommend clear pots either; light kills off the roots. You'll need to transplant them very soon anyway so keep that in mind. We have a master grower here named Subcool and he has an amazing "super soil" formula; I've used it on a few grows myself and it's got everything you need for good, healthy plants. Don't overwater them; once every 3 days is about right.

thx, yes I do have drain holes. thx for the tip on the clear containers. I read on a forum here it was good to use so u know when to transplant again but. Ill transplant them to the black ones as soon as I see any roots come through. do the plants look ok? also am I right about the nutrients, adding pellets and leting it sit over night before watering and is my lighting distance ok thx a lot :)

A tip for knowing when to transplant is that the root system roughly mirrors the canopy. If the canopy of your plant is 10" wide and it's in a 6" pot, you'll have about 2" of roots all around running around looking for room. When it comes to nutes, less is more. You don't ever want to give seedlings any nutes. When they are around a foot tall you may want to put them in some soil with nutrients and amendments. I *highly* recommend Subcool's Super Soil formula; it will give you everything your plants will need. If you can hold your hand right above your plants under the light you will probably be ok, as long as it's not too warm.

ok thx a lot. I will hold of on any nuts for now, I have just been reading like crazy the last few days and there are so many different thoughts lol. also I read a lot about it and am currently under a 24-0 light cycle. now im reading a lot to do 20-4 what do u think?

can u also post the link to sub cools super formula, also there is now hydroponic shop where I live so I makes it hard to find some stuff
