Need Seasoned advise on "Topping"...

I gave topping a shot today, I read that if you do this it will stunt growth for a couple days? Anywho let me know how I did, I tried it on 2 of my taller plants so that the smaller ones (2-3" shorter) could catch up a bit. Plus if i just screwed up then i didn't do it all of them... ;-)
This is my first grow but I felt confident enough to give it a shot after reading 6 how to articles :lol:..

Looks like it is topped perfectly, nice job. I have found that the best ways to increase yield (when space is a problem) is to top real early. I topped all my clones 2 weeks after they rooted and were planted in 1/2 gallon grow bags. Definitely slowed things down A LOT for a week or so.. but now I have a sea of green in the grow room whereas before there were just 4 colas = 4 plants. I got 3.5 ounces before with 4 plants under a 400W. I think I will get a lot more this time. So.. from someone that spent a lot of time topping... I suggest you do it earlier. You can also do some LST to pull the other two branches upwards and have 4 main colas.
 
It's pretty hard to mess up topping, lol. Cut off the top of your plant - bam, it's topped! The only advice I would give, is to read Uncle Ben's thread on it, if you haven't already. It's stickied in the Advanced section. I use his method, always get four main colas. I love it! Great read.

Good point bout Uncle Bens. I alwas go for 4. U might wanna try it.
 
yup i used uncle bens guide its only been two days since i topped all my plants there growing again after a healthy spray of carbonated water


i topped mine at two half weeks
 
sweet guys thanks! I know its late in the game but I'm just about to flower them. I read that you want to do it early but you can at any time. And i like the carbonated water thing... What are the benefits of carbonated water as apposed to say pure distilled??

you don't water with carbonated water you just lightly mist the leaves it to give them more CO2

water with RO or Tap water

and if your gonna get carbonated water to mist your plants make sure its no sodium and no nothing

should say something like water,carbon dioxide


and only mist the leaves during lights off around 5pm or early morning where the fan leaves open there pores to let in oxygen


oh all most forgot if your that close to flowering i wouldnt topp them or mist them anymore

one it will cause alot of stress it will take awhile for them to come back and grow
 
okay sounds good I'll use that on the next grow then. Im growing a horizontal plant (tie the main stem down so all the branches grow up instead of outward) on this next go around to increase the veg time because they don't grow as high and let them reach their full potential before harvest...
 
if u havent top them you can FIM them. i just did mine and i have grow 4 new colas. they very small and growing so when they get bigger in few days request a picture from me and i'll take one. i FIM them few days ago and i already see where they will grow colas. i still mist the plant daily and it doesnt effect the plant as long as i use str8 tap water.
