Need more light

ATM I have a 400w HPS/MH from Vivosun. This just isnt cutting it in my 42"x42" tent. I would like to save power so I have been looking at LEDs. The new Mars Hydro TS and SP series seems like a decent option but I am limited to around $150-200 on the light. I could get a couple 300w LEDs (Meizhi, Mars Hydro, Viparspectra) but they would be the old blurple ones. If I go with the new Mars Hydro with quantum boards then I could get the SP-150, TS-600w or the TS-1000w but would only be able to get 1 unless I get 2 of the TS-600s. Anyway, any suggestions? Really dont want to just upgrade to a 600 or 1000w HPS but I am considering it still.

If you're already using VivoSun you can get just a 1000 watt dimmable ballast with settings of 1000/750/600. Just swap the ballast and put a 600 watt bulb in the fixture for the 600 watt setting. That would give you the ability to bump the light up even more if you wanted.

Either get two of the smaller mars LEDs and have them either side of your 400 or just replace it with a 600hps.
3.5x3.5ft that will rock it.
Not sure what prices are on 630cmh but guess its over your budget and probably a bit OTT in a 3.5x3.5 tent.

Plenty of other ways you could go, like adding 200w of white Samsung or bridgelux strips and it would be pretty easy to do.
Anything you build will be cheaper and more efficient.

Ive heard the old vipar spectra 600 watts are decent for the price, better than Mars lights

One TS1000 MARS will not cover your grow space, puts out 150 watts, need atleast 2

Vipar spectra 600's put out 250 watts, much better power than mars

Cheapest way. Xtshow's idea is best , i believe . $80.00 for the ballast and $27.00 for the bulb. Vivo Sun on 600 watts is perfect for your tent. Im using an adjustable here . I veg with 260 watts HLG LED and flower with 2700K HPS 600 watts capable of 1000. BUT you need to use a 1000 watt bulb, even at 600 for proper function. But 600 is perfect. Blow it up at 800.
