Need Lighting and Growing Help....

Question 1: I have 2 400 watt grow lights and need to know how many ballast and wattage I need to run 2 400 watt lights.

Question 2: What is the best ballast to buy? Are digital ballast the best?

Question 3: I will be growing indoor under a mylar tent that fits about 12 plants. I will be growing 6 white widow and 6 grand daddy purple clones that I will buy from the club. Is it possible I can get a half a pound from each plant by growing indoor?

Question 4: What are the best mixture to use?

Question 5: How long should I run the lights?

Question 6: When it will be best to top the plants?

Answer: Your needs are dependent on what you already have. Each setup requires a ballast, plug wire with mongul(light socket for special lights), bulbs, and typically a hood. Depending on what you already have this should help to identify what you still need.

Question 2: What is the best ballast to buy? Are digital ballast the best?
Answer: Digital ballasts are the best IMO as long as they are RF protected. No heat... Will need 1 ballast per light.

Answer: It is highly unlikely that you would get that amount of harvest. Taking into account that you are still new to growing I would say you are safer to assume .25-.5 grams per watt of light. If you have 800 watts and get .5 grams per watt then 400grams-14 ounces-(.87)lbs per harvest. Experience is going to really be your major limiting factor here. Be patient

Question 4: What are the best mixture to use?
Answer: The old debate on nutrients. Personally I would go with GH and trinity as they are easy to use and you can get information from your local grow shop on how to apply them (to your tomatoes) and when to apply them.

Question 5: How long should I run the lights?
Answer: The length of time you run your lights will be dependent on your cycle. While my plants are in vegetative state and clone state I run them 24 hours a day under a 4 bank T-5. I like to veg for about 4 weeks. Once I put them into flowering state I give them 12 hours dark 12 hours light... Do not interrupt their sleep as it could cause the plants to hermaphrodite and develop seeds.

Question 6: When it will be best to top the plants?
Answer: I do not top my plants so I will have to bump that question to someone else that does.
