about how long does it take for a plant to start flowering?

If you mean time from when 12/12 starts you should see flowers in the first 7-10 days.

you start 12/12 whenever you want, it all depends on how much space you have and how big you want the plants, alot of ppl say 8 weeks into veg is a good time to switch, its all up to you
