Right so I will be growing in a closet which is halfway across the room.

250watt hps with ballast
carbon filter
2 fans
2 small cfls
timer

I need about a 70 meter extension for all of these things.
What is the safest way to set this up?
What extension lead should I buy and how do I set up the timer so it turns off just the lights

Thanks

ask for more info if needed

You are in the UK right?

You either need to get a "horticultural lighting contactor" or I see you like eBay and Charlie's hydro. Charlie's sells a "plug and grow" timer capable of switching upto a 600w lamp.

I personally wouldn't run a 70meter extension cord and then plug everything in. I like to use a dedicated mains socket for my lighting. I then plug any fans or Dehumidifiers etc into a 4way extension cord.

Thanks.

I guess ill plug the carbon filter and fans in a separate plug.
How would I plug in the 250 watt hps if I dont run an extension cord?

Use a heavy duty extension cord an you'll be fine. I've got my 2 way 30m extension plunged into the wall, then a timer into one side of the extension with the lights in the timer, in the second socket I've got a 4 way extension with fans/filter plugged into that, fans and filter run 24/7 lights run 12/12 cos their in the timer. I got the big orange extension from b&q cost £25 and it's got its own surge protector.

Right thanks for that.
So... one heavy duty extension lead which has the 250watt hps and small cfls plugged in.
And another separate extension for the fans and filters plugged in?

Sound right to me.

But do I need a contactor for the 250watt hps?

Thanks
