Need help with idea's for light-tighting my veg room from my flower room.

So, I've built a Grow Room in our basement, and I'm down to the last little bits. I need to find a way to make a removable light proof cover for my veg room.

I need to separate off the veg from the flower room (the veg room is seperated into a lower and an upper section). Right now I'm thinking 4 plywood plates with velcro the whole way around and the last section with a bit of weather stripping overlaped. My problem is that my tiny little wife would be getting in and out when I'm not here, and I'm worried they would be too much a pain in the ass for her.

I've thought about vinyl, but I have a tent upstairs, and they are not very light-tight. Any Ideas?

use some panda filim with Velcro its completely light proof and acts like Mylar

I second the panda.

Have either of you used the panda film (rolling and unrolling) on a daily basis? Will it hold up to constantly being moved? I haven't used it before. I need something that's going to be pretty durable, I have no desire to keep replacing stuff in the grow room after it's finished.

A black tarp and some heavy duty velcro. A pice of wood on hinges. Anything lightproof.

As many have said, Panda is your best bet... Consider using one of those 'tarp-zippers' to make the connection... along with the velcro mentioned above... You will likely need some tape too... double it up so you have white on both sides (panda film is black on one side and white on the other). Putting eyelets in the corners of a sheet of Panda film often works well as a second line of defense; you can put hooks up to hang it (maybe that would be good way to get white on both sides of your divider). ...a combo of all these techniques should get the job done? It's not perfect - and you will have to be diligent about keeping it in position but it works.... Eventually you can design your veg and flower rooms with doors, etc. Be sure to check well for light leaks... I guarantee it will take several passes to eliminate all leaks! Be sure to turn the fans on and stuff too - to be sure your lightproofing is windproof...

been usin panda forever as a door with velcro with no probs at all I cut it a lil long at the bottom and throw one of those sand filled tubes called a draft stopper i belive ont he excess when i close her up . the stuff lasts forever.Got a shop here who sells it by the foot so you dont need a 100 ft roll layin around.

Thanks everyone, I'm getting ideas by the bunch now. I especially like the eyelets on the panda film, for extra protection(and good light reflection). I have 'lot's' of materials at the house, and I found some super lightweight insulated 'show board' (like they use at mobile stands that sell stuff at conventions). I think I'm going to make four velcro plates of that, paint it, and then use the panda film as an extra barrier.

Lionsroar - great call on getting all the fans and stuff hooked up before I do this, I would hate for the thing to get done and have the ventilation system blow off the panel. Lol

Damnit. I tried to build with the lightwieght stuff and my velcro was so strong I ripped it in half, lol. I am hoping to do a house search tomorrow and find something, if not then off to home depot to get something.

I ended up making light plywood panels with 1/4" lag bolts and quick releases, The velcro is an added light tight. I also cut and folded the total hood today. I'm still gonna pick up some panda film, but this will work for now.
