Need Help with Cooling a 5x10 grow tent space, please

Hi,

I'm having trouble cooling down my 5x10 grow space. I'm looking for a portable AC; however, my concern is trying to find a place to locate the AC. Would it be better inside the tent or outside the tent? The garage I'm in is rather big and gets quite hot so putting an AC outside to me would be counterproductive. Not to mention, if I put it inside the tent, I'm hearing that heat could become an issue as well. I do have a 6 inch inline fine, but that's not working right now.

Any suggestions or can I try a portable AC to cool it down. I'm kind of stumped. Please, any help would be grealy appreciated.

Thanks.

you can get in room/tent air conditioners at walmart for about 300 bucks....they will cool down your area but you have to exhaust the unit....it comes with a 4in tubing attached so youd only have to run the AC exhaust outta the room and done! Personaly i could only afford window unit so i have 6in duct running from the window unit to my tent and the 6in inline blows cold air in and i just open another vent and that lets extra go out....either way should work i hope! good luck man

To add to gokey check out amazon on portable air conditioners for your area. You can get a 8,000 to 10,000 BTU for that with free delivery with the 5" exhaust to the window.

yea, most portable a/c units are either single or dual hose. either one will work for you. the single hose units use the hose to exhaust the hot air which is used to cool the coils. the dual hose units use 1 hose to bring in air to cool the coils and another to exhaust the hot air after it has cooled the coils. the advantage to a dual hose unit is that you won't have as much odor in your garage as with a single hose unit which is drawing air from your room to cool the coils and then exhausting it outside the tent. if you have a good carbon scrubber it shouldn't be a problem though.

the portable AC needs to exhaust/intake preferably outside, or into/from another room. Found a nice one at garage sale for $35, lucked out on that one. It exhausts and pulls air out of the ducts. However you can just use the exhaust duct to move the hot air away from grow area. If you have the space and exhaust you can put the AC right in the grow area. The exhaust air is hot enought that the AC unit cannot condition it with cold air. I had a 4x8 closet that had 6 x 4" holes in it. intake/exhaust for light/AC/air. Rule of Thumb: If you cant get the air right you cant grow weed.

I never can find those deals! thats great!
Like he said get the 2 hose system. But you need to have both hoses to outdoors intake and exhaust. If your pulling your intake from your grow area your going to need a carbon scrubber on your exhaust! If not you don't need it!
