hey guys.in a few hours i will be making my way down to bunnings to buy aroun 6 cfls to grow my 2 plants.im only using the cfls for veg.what i was wondering is do i get the 6 23w 6500k cfls and would that be aiight to grow my plants ruthly to 3ft or abit bigger.and do i get the 23w 6500k cool white?warm white? or cool daylight.i also have around 3 23w 4100k cool daylight cfls lying around and was wondering will these be aiight to chuck in?.cheers

ok sweet so i grow with cfls and If i were you i would use like 4 vegg bulbs and 2 flower bulbs. durring the vegg process the mixed spectrum does wonders on the ladies. so yeah go get 2 23w 6500's and like 2 23w 2700's and you can use like 2 of the 23w 4100's you already have for 4 bulbs itll probally cost you like 10 bucks. but again the cool white, soft white and daylight is refering to the different spectrum of the bulb i.e 2700, 3500,4100,5000,5500, and 6500. hope this helps. the higher the number the more blue spectrum it is and the lower the number is the red spectrum. so blue for vegg and red is flower but i always have a mixed spectrum i just change the ratios of red: to blue durring the whole process. starting with more blue, ending with majority red.
works good for mee. ps keep the cfls close like 2 inches off the leafs. have fun

i would just buy new ones , leave those old ones alone lol , i only say that cuz im sure the new ones will be alot brighter , plus their new , and im pretty sure your plants can get bigger then 3 ft with that many cfls , i have 2 23w 5600k daylight cfls , and im doin pretty good , id go with the daylight

You didn't say how many plants, a critical bit of info.

for four plants i have now 6 6500k and 2 2700k they sit about 2inch above my plants and are doing very well useing soil but just started a hydro not doing so good lol .gl

I use cfl's but only during cloneing and getting seeds going the ones i use are the same output has a 150 watt daylight spec.I have these on wall mounts 4 on each side of the grow box walls 2 cool 2 warm on each side and then 3 /3ft flouresent tubes on chains so i can higher or lower them. The tubes are cool so i can have them has near has a couple of ince of the tops of the plants. The more light you can give a young plant the better the overhall yeild of the adult plant will be when i put the young plants under the 600 hps light to flower. When useing cfl's do everything in your power to get has much from them has possible mylar the walls floor and ceiling.Get a goog reflective hood for the tube lighting. And all should go well but keep a close eye on the plants don't let them get leggy..................................TYKE...............................
