hey guys i want try this but have no idea how to do this i usally just buy what i need
i have grown in soil and have no idea about how to build one of these and do the roots go in the water
please give a newbie some advice

The roots go in the water(nutes). Add air pump and stone. How much money are you willing to spend? How many plants? Net pots, leca, and rock wool cubes make for easy work. Oh yeah very important to light proof the rez.

I just went back and forth from Home Depot,Hydro Store and the Pet shop. If you are looking to just experiment start off with a decent size reservoir. I went with an 18 gallon rubbermaid(like) tub. Although i've been watching the thread on people using ice chest/coolers! From my experience(three weeks!) I would just get a tub, 6 inch net pot, 2 or 4 outlet air pump and a few air stones. I've had my plants in a DWC for three weeks and they look amazing. I also picked up a clone from the local dispensary so it was ready to go as soon as my setup was complete. The water pump for a drip system is fun but not really needed IMO. I feel the submersible;e pump just heats up the water. Like others say Cool Water,No light!

Look up some videos on Google. Search Deep Water Culture and you will find a ton of helpful videos.

Rubber maids suck.

There, I said it.

Heat issues.
Light issues.

I'll say it again,
