Hey guys,
Just got done my first grow and got a lot of the kinks out of my methods for inside hydro, but now, since it is that time of year im going to do a small 4 plant outdoor grow from attitude seeds. I'm new to soil but I think I understand it, so a little help?
QUESTIONS:
1 - Starting 4 seedlings in starter tray inside under 200w cfl 6500k (its what i used last grow so im not going out and getting new lights) on April 22nd and am planning on transplanting outside June 1st into 5 gallon planter buckets so they can be moved if company were to come over (this is where Im sort of confused)
Can someone point me in the right direction of a good 5 gallon planting container? Can I get away with a 3 gallon? I need something so that I can test the PH water runoff so it'll need to have holes and a plate on the bottom, probably find that at Lowes or something?
2 - I sort of winged the soil mix that I'm starting the seeds in, im really unsure in this area but I read some guides, bought some stuff, and mixed it lol. I need 4, 5 gallon pots worth of soil, will this be enough?
This is what I have the photos attached are the exact product I have mixed in, I can add more potting soil if the mix is too high or low in nutes just let me know what works! Im using this mix for both seedling and transplant just to be clear.
I Have mixed, sitting outside moistened on a tarp
1 bail 3.5cu ft Promix Potting Soil
Full medium sized bag of vermiculite
1 3lb bag Blood Meal
1 3lb bag Bone Meal
1 3lb bag Earthworm castings (couldn't find picture online but its the same brand as blood and bone meal)
3. Is this ok? Should I add more soil or do I need to add more nutes?
4. Should I add a 3lb bag of Kelp Meal?
5. How much Dolomite Lime should I add to my, mix or 1 bail of Promix, does it keep my soil PH at 7.0?
Thanks guys, I'm going to be going out tomorrow to get kelp meal and lime any feedback would be great!
