Need help. Root problems are slowing my plants growth down

Roots are not growing vertically from the pot. Aeroponics amazon system so no growing medium. Anyone have any suggestions?

If it is a clone, the roots will grow sideways. Only from seed will the roots grow down with the tap root.

yes it is a clone, so is this normal?
