Hello RIUers! I need some help. I am currently in Week 6 of flowering in a fully converted garage. ATM im running 5 1000w HPS. I have a 6 inch Hyper fan for intake and two 8 inch max fans for exhaust. I sorta had to piece this stage together without much funds.....so im using two vented reflectors and three non vented parabolic reflectors(I know not the most ideal scenario but it was my only way to up my light counts). The vented reflectors are open one on end and one 8inch pulls air through them up through my attic on top of garage and to the outside. The other 8 inch pulls air from directly from on top of the parabolics and also sends it outside. The exhaust are located on opposite sides of the room with intake coming in at the ground. When I run only one 8incher the room overheats. With both running it says 79-83 and the gurls seem to love it. Im in Colorado so the winter temps are keeping everything fairly managable.

So here is one of my problems: Originally I wanted to pull the air from my fans into a Y connector send it through a carbon filter then vent it into my house. However like a dumbass i didnt order an inline carbon filter. I got the normal one that only has one intake flange...the other side is sealed. So how should i set this up? Or should i return it and get an inline? The problem with that idea is 1) Im in week 6 flowering and smells should start picking up to the point that neighbors might notice. I dont know how long it would take to mail this one back and get a new one. 2) This is a 12 inch 1700 cfm filter. I couldnt find any inlines rated that high???? Do they need to be that high when they are an inline?

Here are some of my ideas if i kept it:

1) Put the filter at the top of my room. exhaust through it and into the attic to either go outside or hopefully into my house for some heat. I dont like this because I would only have one exhaust point in a rectangular room. Something about that doesnt seem right. Also how would I utilize both my fans in that scenario. I have read that they arent as efficent if they are used together inline like that with both going in the same direction???

2) Keep the fans they way they are and Y them in the attic and send it into the carbon filter up there. I dont like this beacuse the air would simply exhaust into the attic and not heat my house. But with this i would have two exhaust points in there room.

I like the filter because I would like to seal the room in the future and it would be perfect for that. However its not helping me right now with getting heat into my house. Sorry if I made this sound overly complicated. Happy safe growing to you all. PEACE!

How would get mold up there? Are u saying if I exhaust directly into the attic? Not sure if this matters but i run a 50 pint humdifier and it keeps my humidity in the 20s. Thanx for any input. I know u know ur shit Harley.

Can you access the attic easily and work in it?The house will have a main vent pipe.Usually large, black plastic. These can be safely cut (keep a fan going in case of any methane which would be very low from inside your house) and take a Sawzall and cut that pipe and remove a piece large enough for a "Y". Insert the "Y" in it and glue it back together. Have the Y upside down and attach your exhausts to that. It will vent out the roof.

I lived in the South Plains and did just as you described. In 8 months there was black mold in it. But that might have been the attic venting.

I have lots of exhaust points(4) out of my roof. The grow was designed with their use in mind. But yes i can get up there and work. But i would i exhaust oustide if my CF only has one intake? I would have to put the CF in the room and do what I said in solution no 1(from original post). Are the south plains in Co?

What the captin is saying ......u need to think about your air paths

what u are about to do is change the complete air flow of the house ........some areas of the house have been allowed to gather mold and fungi spores as that area is to hot for us/to tiny for us to clean in .....now u are introducing high amounts of moving air into it ......and that air is coming in too so u are kicking up and possible intaking into your house

u have to vent that air directly outside .....if u want the heat from it then use non insulated ducting the hot air will heat transfer to the air outside the ducting as it is getting dumped

as for smell control u need 2 carbon filters at the front of the air cooled hoods (assuming that is the 2 hot airs u are dumping out) ......the carbon in front of the air going out will clean it of smell (or since u are 8 inch they sell ozone gens that fit in the ducting) ......the air coming out smells like hospital air (that ozone killing smell of everything )

but carbon filters are designed to be suxed tho.......the ozone might be your better choice wye them in on 10inch (8x8x10 wye) then getting the 10 inch ozone gen putting ducting to dump point outside

so should I put the filter in the room, y it to my two 8inchers, and then vent it outside?

Guys my grow is completely seperate from my house. Im not fuckin up my place. The grow room was professionally built. Im just not a pro. And i do have a mini split. It came with the house/growroom. 24k btu. Old fedders model. However during the move in i lost the remote. Havent really had a need for it. Found a replacement remote for 10 bucks but wasnt gonna use it til next run. Its 20 fn degrees outside. Thanx for the input peeps. I do really appreciate it.

One of my jobs is setting up grow rooms. While I don't live anywhere with that cold of temps, I avoid fresh air rooms like a plague. They won't preform like a sealed room, idc how dialed in it is. They are much more work to keep in the right range, and end up using almost the same power as a sealed room. (Atleast that's the case here).

I run all my rooms sealed, whether the temps allow me to run fresh air or not. It's just not efficient in my mind.

Thanx Carolina. I know u know ur shit too. I appreciate your input big time! Sealed is what i plan to get to. I just wanted KISS this round and build a baseline to work off of. Co2 would be necessary in a sealed room and i wanted to do that part after i got a baseline. Kinda like how i want to go to DE with LEC supplmental but i have to get everything else dialed in before i take those steps.
