hey guys i need some help with my hydro system. i have been growing in soil for some time (whit successfull results)and i have decided to switch to hydro(DWC) i started from seeds (full moon and indor mix from nirvana) everything whent well for about 4 weeks and then things started to go wrong: 2 of my plants started to die they began to ophiliate and leaves started to dry. i will try to post some pics in about 3-4 days. i don't know the ppm because i dont have a ppm meter, i use porage fertilizer (in my county it's kind of hard to get porfesional hydro equipment and suplies) the fertilizer contains microelements, it's thesame type of fertilizer i used in soil growth, i give them the same ammount as in the soil growth 20g of fertilizer per plant and i change the water every 12-14 days,i am growing on 400 w hps in 5 gal buckets 750 l/min airpump every bucket contains one air curtain and one airstone.
any advice is apreciated 10x

You really have to know your ppm and ph in hydro and if that fert is not made for hydro it is probably doing something bad to your ph.order some good nutes and a ph meter-tds or ec meter. dirt is very forgiving and hydro is easy if you keep your nutes and ph in check.i paid 35.00 for my ph pen and 42.00 for my tds meter. until i bought those i could not keep my water right .when you get hydro dialed in it is a blast to watch how fast your plants will grow. good luck.

it's not completely impossible to grow hydro "blind", i did it for my first hydro grow, and got all the way to harvest, but it wasn't as good as it could've been! haha, you can't shop online??? it's the best place to get hydro stuff...you just gotta watch out for frauds!

You need to find out if the fertilizer you are using can be used in hydro. Some nutes need the bacteria in soil to brake them down in order to become available for the plants.

i'm not growing completley bling i'm monitorizing the pH and keeping it between 5,5-6.0. i don't know the exact type of the fertilizer, because i'm not home at the time, but i will post pics with the plants and fertilizer as soon as i get back home in about 2 days. about the fert dosage i really don't know if it wase a full dose because i dont have a feeding schedule or any other info about hydro dosage. didin't anyone use regular fert for hydro?and can anyone recomend some webstores that ship to romania?

Hey wassup slayer.
Yeah, what they are telling you is right. You need to make sure your nutes are water soluble.
I also live in an area with NO hydro stores anywhere within a 2 hour one way drive.
I grew for about 2 months without a ph meter, before I got one of those liquid ones from a pet store.
They make one for fish tanks called wide range that tests from 5.0 to 9.0.
Also I use Miracle grow, yes actual miracle grow. It's water soluble and obviously works for hydro if you look at my sig.
I have to throw in there that I have went this whole grow without a PPM meter.
luckily :D

What kind of water are you starting out with? If its tap, you have to be sure of the quality before you toss it in there. And brita type filters wont always do much, if anything.
