need help advice please

have been helping a frend grow his first crop,17 mixed females all seed bank strong strains checking once a week everything i said he listned to and done, their was nothing i could knock his grow on i advised time to flower and we set his timers to 12/12 last weekend, after veging nearly 5 week, i have just come back from his house and could cry am totaly guted for him he has stripped 75 - 80% of leafs on advice from his aunt who grew weed once in the 60s they now look like twigs with a cpl of leafs on all big fan leafs have gone nearly all medium leafs gone dont know wat to say to him or do as i have never seen this done to that extream. no pics guys sorry not my crop they been on 12/12 6 days this was done yesterday imo their fuked hope i am wrong
